BRAKE warning

Post by spidey1 » Fri May 27, 2011 5:51 pm

newbie to the forum and S4's! just got '04 plate s4 cab few weeks ago. this morning i started up with the normal short duration rattle and i got a brake warning on dash with 3 beeps. disappeared in a couple of seconds so i didn't get to see too well as was doing other stuff and not concentrating. I can't fathom how to find out what it actually said. it quickly chnaged to 'OK' and when i start now it checks and says 'ok' everytime. manual says 'stop' for any red warning but as intermittent at best is this a real fault. do i worry?

Nope. Mines had the occasional hissy fit with the brake warning light. I even scanned it and got nothing. Never had it happen again either. I would worry

I had the same; got it checked out, they found nothing, never happened since.

You do get occasional random warnings when your battery's on its way out.

I've had this, it was low brake fluid due to pad and disc wear. Topped up and problem solved! :)

thanks guys. i'd checked fluid level and all ok, just been serviced so i was surprised to see it. as it disappered so quickly and then read 'ok' i was hoping it was an intermittent gremlin. will keep an eye out for it happening again.

I have often got this warning. It seems intermittent alright and each time it has happened I have scanned with VCDS to find no fault codes.I dont worry about it!!

When I test drove my S4 cab and threw it around hard it did this. It's the level sensor, has to be topped up exactly to the right level. Then it stopped. Well, until I did some spirited driving the other day and it did it again. But level is just about spot on, could do with a top up.

Interestingly I just had this happen today on my b6 avant whilst I had my Vag Com plugged in. Just suddenly did it - even when I wasn't in the abs module. Ran a check - no code.

Very odd!

(hello everyone by the way) I recognise a lot of names on here from *ahem* other Audi boards!
