I'll try to remember to have a look through my emails tonight, and see if I can get an email address for them, I'll PM you if I find it.

EDIT: Had a quick google, and found this site that sells the cables, although at £80 it's more than double what I spent I think:
http://www.vag-diagnostics.com/index.html
Do you then need to get the software on top of having the cable or does that little disc in thier image contain the software. Slightly naieve question but I'm brand new to these things
Ignore this, just read cable and software in the title of the item!!!! Recovering from general anesthitic today, need to slow down and read things properly
Noob so go easy...

No, you get the software with it.

The site I bought from was http://www.auto-trix.com/, but they're down at the moment...

Do you have a link to the cable you both bought?
Same as Marv, they're very helpful if you have problems as well

I was way quicker off the mark but when he got into 3rd and could get the power down boy did it move!
He's spent a fortune on that, could have bought a good car to start with. :)
I know I thought that, respect to him for going the whole hog on mods and for having a very quick car but he could have probably bought a cheap Ferrari F360 for that money!

Sorry for the thread hijack

He said further down the thread he spent £15k on mods + car so it's still cheaper than a new S4 - although, since he's running all that power through the front wheels, he's created a mostly impractical death trap (nine times out of ten an S4 will move faster in real-world situations - you picked the 10 percenter).

I find my S4 has also used coolant over the past 3 and half years I've owned it. Oddly though, it never seems to drop below the Min mark, it just wont stay at Max or anywhere in the middle of the two.
I've used 1 bottle of G12 fluid in that time, and thats with 30k miles, so it doesn't worry me too much.
And for the record, (touch wood!) I've had no coilpacks in that time either, nor has it had the aux rads replaced, which for a a 7 1/2 year old car seems to be rare. I do get in the vents with a pressure washer every week to make sure there is no debris building up on them though.

Fingers crossed!

I paid £11k for 2003 S4 with just 44k on the clock, lets say his car was £1k (ha ha) then I'm still £5k ahead without having touched mine performance wise yet. Nothing against jap cars or people who heavily mod but I believe there needs to be a balance between the cars intended performance at the point of manufacture and what is then added. As a rule of thuimb I think that If they spend more on mods than the car then I think it's pushing the car to a dangerous point of too much power for the chasis (rule of thumb, doesn't always stand up). I like the V8 in these because they don't lend themselves to heavy modding which means that no matter what we all do, the car can almost certainly take it. From what I have read xyber has the perfect balance, his car sounds like it's been cleverly modded in a manner that won't take the car too far from it's original characteristics. Genuine improvement on an already good platform

I'm in total agreement with words above. Having spent quite a lot of money tuning an Impreza 8 years ago, and then doing similar to an S3 2 years later, I just got to a point where I thought, feck this messing around, why not just buy something which is already quick and handles ok out of the box, sounds great and has load lugging capability.
No mods to delcare on insurance and not such a specialist market when I come to sell (which wont be for another 2 years I reckon, as I'm gonna buy a weekend toy for some fun on track in the next 6 months which will keep me entertained)
Nothing against people modding cars, in fact I think it's great to see that level of commitment to a car, but i've been there, done that, and wasted the money for hundreds of shirts!

I think I'm on my 5th coil pack since owning mine from Aug'10 - bloody things. Got at least one of them under audi's 2 year warranty though... I've heard from MRC that the 1.8T and the 4.2 have similar problems with these coil packs. Can be considered a consumable too ;)
Carrying 2 in the boot from now on, and some Castrol Edge. AuxRad never been replaced, but the water does seem to no like being near the max level, doesn't seem go lower than half full/empty either.
