Been advised against the K&N type setup in these due to the amount of heat in the bay. But then again, I've seen custom heat shields in place of the airbox. But standard filters should be fine.
Not sure where you got your advise from but K&N filters are OK. The thing to avoid is cold or ram air intakes. These are definitely no good.
Nothing wrong as such with K&N, sorry. Just the cone setup in a hot engine. Thought warmer air was more dense than cold air, and guess that's why some I've spoken to prefer that to standard panel filter types. Not tried myself yet though in the Audi. Had one setup in my 220 TomCat years ago, made a great noise and worked fine. So just my 2 pence worth mate.

Edit - prefer panel to cone that is... :D

I think the K&N filters for the S4 will mostly (if not all) be panel type filters.

PS. colder air is more dense than warm

PPS. Nice car!

Best to avoid the oiled air filters as these can contaminate the MAF and cause all sorts of problems.

£48 for 8 x plugs on Amazon
£19 for filter from Camberley Audi.

Will try and get some more pics up. Had privacy glass (factory style?) tints done, seems to finish it off nicely.

I love the subtlety of these cars. Was looking at E46 M3s as alternatives and feel confident I made the right choice (young family in tow)

Not necessarily. Most problems arise when they have been cleaned and too much oil is applied. A little trick if people are unsure if they have added too much oil is to run over it with a hoover. This will suck up any access oil. The same can be done with brand new out of the box filters.

I have had a K&N installed for the last 20K miles without any MAF related issues.
