Nothing wrong as such with K&N, sorry. Just the cone setup in a hot engine. Thought warmer air was more dense than cold air, and guess that's why some I've spoken to prefer that to standard panel filter types. Not tried myself yet though in the Audi. Been advised against the K&N type setup in these due to the amount of heat in the bay. But then again, I've seen custom heat shields in place of the airbox. But standard filters should be fine.
