Just ordered a saloon

Post by Kwakr » Tue Jan 20, 2004 2:08 pm

After much deliberating and several test drives, decided against the M3 and opted for the more refined approach of the S4.

Just ordered with the various options and already had a build week of 11 - means I should have it on a new reg by beginning of April ... wahoo !!!

Now does anyone have any good pics of the S4 (either body style) in Ebony Black ?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Hi,

As soon as the sun shines I'll post a couple of pictures for you. I'm amazed at how short the delivery lead time is that you have been quoted. I picked my S4 up just over 1 week ago and was told that new orders were to be fulfilled in late June...

You made the right decison over the M3 (unless you want to look like a salesman or a drug dealer).

The word "M3" appears to have many definitions, depending on the context of its use:

M3, n. (Astronomy) - Messier object M3 is a globular cluster which is located in the constellation Canes Venatici. It is a relatively close member of Messier's catalog located 34 thousand light years from earth.

M3, n. (Transport) - Stretch of UK Motorway, South of London. Sometimes confused with the M4, "The Road to Hell", as one approaches the M25 Junction.

M3, n. (Vernacular) - "Jaw Dropping, baddest, punnannee wetting, BLING TASTIC!!! In'it!"

Thanks Darren, would appreciate some nice pics as yet to see one in the ebony black..... colour choice has to be the hardest part of the decision process, Dolphin grey... no the red... or the lairy blue...

As for delivery times, I was originally told that after a call to Audi UK, it was anticipated end of June. Yet after the order being allocated a build week on the Audi system, it's come through as soon as it has.
Result really as the company car has to go back by end of March and I was considering various options.

I know what you mean about colour. I ordered the 'lairy blue' but didn't realise that when you ticked that on the option list it automatically ticked 'faulty gearbox', 'faulty alternator', 'faulty n/s/f suspension arm', faulty o/s/r door lock' and 'faulty bonnet catch' at the same time.

Must have missed 'em when the 'configure my Audi' thing went to check the compatibility of my selected features.

Maybe your car was built after a works trip to the Oktoberfest Beer Festival in Munich? After last year's "business" trip it took me a full three days to recover including the loss of my wallet on the flight home (hic!).

My S4 is great; the dealer spotted some problems during PDI and "nailed" them before I saw the car for the first time (including a dodgy spare tyre!?!). The A4 1.8T Sport that I ran for the last three years was a very reliable car with a faulty arm rest causing the most inconvenience during that time.

I used to think that Mercs were the only cars to drive for long term reliability but my opinion has changed after a mediocre experience with the last one and a great time with Audi ever since. If you think the Audi dealer network is bad you should try doing battle with the Merc dealers...NEVER AGAIN! Fingers crossed the sun may put in an appearance soon and then I'll take a couple of photos for you Paul. No guarantees though - it's grim up North!

<Northist offensive generalisation>

Oh yes, you're from up 't North.

If I'd seen that I would have def' recommended the 'battleship grey matt pearl (harbour surplus) effect' paint jobby.

I've heard it's a -£1000 option.

Why waste cash when you can use what you've saved to buy a spare set of wheels for when the first ones get nicked!

Oh, and see if they'll throw in a red diesel conversion FOC as well.

Paul,

I am sure you will have a great time with it once it arrives.

I often wonder whether I made a wrong choice when choosing the colour of mine ?

Don't! The S4 doesn't look so great in Mugello, but to me it's the most natural colour on the RS6. I haven't yet seen an Ebony S4, so I'll be interested to see some pictures!

I'm awaiting a reply from Joshie

I think Mugello looks great on the RS6 as does Daytona - real nice shades and yet a stealth colour at the same time
