RE: remapping my s4
Welcome. IMHO a map on itself is not worth the money on a NA car. You would be better off upgrading the entire exhaust system and then having a map. How much bhp is it all worth? That depends on which RR it is done on. The best test is to log some figures. If you still want to go ahead then MRC are a good tuning house. They are based near Banbury

Hi,
I recently had a REVO remap done and after a bit of tuning I've now got it spot on. The cars going like stink.
It keeps pulling very strongly right up to the red line.
I purchased a REVO SPS switch, after the remap, which allows you to adjust timing, fueling and throttle response. You start by logging cylinder CF values with Vag-Com on 4th gear runs from low revs and you adjust the timing with the SPS switch and take it for another run. This way you can aim to get the CF values ( timing retardation) to about 8-10 degrees as that is optimum. Then, you go on to fuelling. I've set fuelling to be about 0.85 - 0.9 lambda under high load which gives max power. You can, of course, lean the mixture to get better MPG.
There are 3 user presets you can load on the SPS switch to account for different octane fules and different enviromental conditions such as high temperatures.
Anyway, you don't have to mess around as much as I have, but at least you have the opportunity to, unlike other remaps.
I, also, have exhaust mods - sports cats and an X-pipe. The SPS switch means you can get a REVO remap done and later adjust the map for exhausts mods, etc.
Hope that helps a bit.
Regards, Chris.

Would agree with what's above, but the map will take out the throttle sensitivity that S4's suffer with sometimes, especially at low speeds?
Mine used to be quite 'twitchy' on the loud pedal.
But defo a full exhaust (DP too) + map and you should be looking at c370ish bhp?
Also defo try MRC.

Hi,
The throttle response is fully adjustable with the REVO SPS switch. Stock is at position 0, I've got mine set at 4. It adjusts the requested engine load at different throttle positions.
I've tried it as high as 9 but was far too twitchy at that setting. For my driving style 4-5 is ideal.
I know that a forum member got his power up from 350 to 388 HP with the same exhaust mods and a REVO map on the same RR.
I will be getting my S4 cab on the same RR that the RS4 members have been using, shortly, to give some idea of power gains. My "butt" dyno says it's considerably more and doing some runs against my mates S4 cab, I'm pulling a very healthy distance on him.

Hi Johnp,
Forgot to mention that it would be a good idea to do some logged power runs with Vag-Com and check the cylinder CF values. You should see max timing retardation at low revs and full engine load. Values 8-10 Degrees are fine under full load and 10-12 Degrees is fine for short periods - normally on overrun. Anything more than that will impact performance.
