RE: new rubber
I have the Falkens on my S4 cabriolet. I opted for the cheaper 225/40's and they perform very well. I have had no major "brown trouser" moments, but maybe i'm not trying hard enough!
RE: new rubber
I've got Falkens on my S4, not sure what type exactly, but pretty sure they're 235/40/18s.
Seemed fine for me so far, though I haven't really "tested" them properly I don't think, as I've only had the car a few weeks. One thing I would say is that they're not the quietest tyres in terms of road noise, but grip seems good. Cool tread pattern too for when you park with the front wheels turned!!

RE: new rubber
I would buy the best tyres that I could afford just on the basis you can't wish you had bought a better tyre when you need them most. I recently put a set of Michelin PS2's on my S4, I toyed with other tyres but decided I was happy with the PS2's.
