Loose Footrest!

Post by no_RS » Sat Oct 10, 2009 4:07 pm

Hi,

Any suggestions for making sure the foot rest doesn't come loose again

Damn thing came off whilst I was coming off the motorway down to the roundabout at the bottom. Got in the way of the clutch and brake pedal so a bit of a hairy moment  .

Thanks

Pete

It is just fixed by a single self tapping screw at the top, there are some clips on the back of the cover that hold it in position.

Pete,

Hope the experience didn't make you leave skid marks on the off-ramp or your underwear!

Mrs left a bottle of water in the car which got stuck under the brake pedal. Bit of a hairy moment for me too, so I know how you feel!

very much a PITA is that footrest...i imagine some threadlocker or super glue will do the trick...haven't had to tighten mine in a while...i think i may have tightened it to within an inch or mm of its thread life and it's stayed put...until later this week when it will obviously come off now ive mentioned it being ok!!

Cheers guys,

Not an experience I really want to repeat but I really want to give Audi a flea in their ear about it. Currently the foot rest is living in the boot unitl I decide what to do with it.

Any suggestions as how I can report it as an official safety hazard?

Crashing into the nearest Audi dealership showroom might draw attention to it... wouldln't recommend it, but will definately get their attention!

"sorry, the poor design of the footrest caused me to crash... can you fix it under warranty?"
