You can sometimes get air trapped in the lines. Try filling up the washer, then just pump it through loads.
To get the headlight washers to work, you need to have the headlights on and you need to hold the washer stalk for about 2-3 seconds. You should hear the pump change pitch. It must have literally taken me about 20 cycles (no point in holding the washer stalk as the headlight washers only come on for an instant) of doing this before mine finally sprung into life.

OK thanks, its worth a try..I was doing this as per the book with the lights on and a good 2-3 secs hold on the stalk but the bottle is low on fluid and i guess with lack of use could have air trapped. i will try again today and post result...
Thanks

Look for water under the car - the pipes can come off too.

And the washer pumps are prone to cracking. If you've bought the car with low washer fluid, the seller may have forgotten to mention this!

Make sure the washer bottle is full to the top and try again - mine worked in this case but the bottle wouldn't maintain sufficient level. Top it up and see if it stays full overnight. The windscreen and headlights have seperate pumps with the windscreen one being lower down so that it has a reserve. Typically with the headlight pump cracked the water will leak out through it such that you have winscreen washers but no headlight wash.
