Hello All,

Last week I was on the M42 and put my foot down in 6th gear - the car just didn't seem to want to respond at all. I then noticed the temperature gauge was constantly moving between the normal 90 degrees and 60 degrees. i pulled over at the services and scanned for error codes and got the following

17963 - charge pressure exceeded

I reset the code and carried on - the temperature was back to the normal 90 degrees and the car was driving like normal, although I didn't really push it.

After reading other posts on the forums I decided to check the DV's (I am running Forge DV's). They seem to be working well but I serviced them anyway whilst they were out.

My next thought is to replace all the hoses with silicone ones as the car has done 120k and the hoses all look original.

The hose kits contain 12 hoses - I can see where all the hoses go except for 4. They are 2 longer S-type hoses (not the ones from the intercooler pipes to the intercooler), a short large bore straight pipe and a 90 degree large bore offset pipe.

Can anyone help as to where these hoses go or even better is there a "How to" for fitting silicone hoses.

Am I right in thinking the F-Hose is located just behind the Drivers side DV?

Any other thoughts on what might have caused that code would be appreciated/

17963/P1555 - Boost Pressure Control: Upper Limit Exceeded
Possible Symptoms

* Reduced power output
* Limp mode

Possible Causes

* Boost Pressure too High
* Hoses/Pipes incorrect connected, disconnected, blocked or leaking
* Charger Pressure Control defective
o VNT (variable nozzle turbo): nozzles stuck
* Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75) defective

Possible Solutions

* Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components
* Check Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75)
* Check / Clean / Replace Charge Pressure Control
o Check / Clean mechanism for variable nozzles

Thanks for the reply - just a couple of questions tho.

Where is the charge pressure control? And how would I go about checking and cleaning it?

Where is the VMT? I'm guessing its part of the turbo itself so would be abig job to check.

As I said i'm planning to change all the hoses for silicone ones due to the mileage of the car, but failing that I will start to check the other things you mentioned, starting with the N75.

Stangely enough the car hasn't thrown the code again and I took it out for a good hard drive this afternoon. I'd still just rather check everything for piece of mind

your car dosnt have a vnt turbo they are fitted to diesel engines ! ,change the dv`s for 710n`s and change the n75 valve,recheck.

Pressure test....... , F hose or T B B Split.
