S4 brakes

I'm looking into improving my S4's brakes but don't want to spend a huge amount, only paid £5k for the car. Don't really want to go to second hand RS4 brakes. I've done a bit of a search and seen 993 turbo calipers are mentioned, is a kit available to use them with standard discs or some other one piece discs?

Thanks in advance.

I believe that the way I have done it would be the cheapest.
B6 S4 brakes, 345mm discs and the late S4 calipers.
£100 they were, fitting them at Xmas so don't know what they're like but they've got to be better then the std 8 pad set up, had mine on fire sooooo many times, and thats just on the road.

I assume you mean late B5 S4 calipers?

Does this mean facelift B5's can just fit the B6 brakes/discs?

There must be an economical way to upgrade S4 brakes, seems crazy to spend 20-25% of the purchase price on brakes alone. Why are they crap, disc size or calipers?

Thanks, I had seen this thread but missed the bit about Phaeton discs being 360mm, just to confirm, can I run Phaeton discs with RS4 calipers?

think you need the b7 rs4 bells and calipers = about the same cost initially as you have to go B7 RS4 anyhow unless you can find some bells off some B7 rs4 discs

then you can save on discs with the phaeton discs

Refaced the pads that came with the set up, new braided lines, as I can make those myself.
RHS done and looks 8) 8) 8) 8)

Trig,

How did this go?

I'm not too technical when it comes to brakes, however I need new disks and pads for my facelift B5, front & rear.

I have 18" wheels but am looking for a straight forward (cheap!) brake set up.

I don't have much of a problem with the standard brakes, however if they can be upgraded for the same cost then why not.

Could you specify exactly which parts I need for this upgrade, assuming I already have the late B5 calipers.

Cheers

These fitted piece of cake!!!
They bolted straight on, just had to alter the btake pipe, and made a one piece pipe from the caliper to the inner wing.
Far better braking under heavy braking, but initial bite is not as good, prob due to pads bedding in, or the pistons requiring more fluid to move them, but ACE under 'panic' braking.

Fully recommended.

From what I was told you will need

2 x 345mm discs from B6 S4
2 x calipers from same vehicle.
1 lt of brake fluid.
1.5 m of braided line
Re useable brake fitting to suit.

See above link for pic of set up fiited.

Just need to increase the rear braking efficiency as the front are a little over powering and make the front dive.

Not totally sure but I think those B6 S4 front calipers are the same as some Fords and Volvos, might be worth some investigation! may be some bargains out there and/or a cheaper supplier?
