Advice needed on wheel fitment and tyres

Post by Gizmo » Mon Sep 29, 2008 5:53 pm

I've recently bought some B5 RS4 wheels for my S4, they are et43, do I need spacers to get them to fit correctly? Also do I want 225 or 235 section tyres?

Probably, especially if you have new disks and pads.
Not sure about sizes, but id say 235 up front would be over-tyred, but at the back on these i personally think 225 at the back isnt enough.
id go for 235 rear 225 front, with say 30 profile rear and 35 front to even the rolling circumference.
saying that ill probably get shot down soon enough so watch this space :P

I would have thought the width should be the same front and back being 4wd with a fairly equal torque split and more weight over the front ? Thats what I'd stick to anyway as thats what audi decided on.

I've never lost traction at the rear before the front so would suggest that extra tyre on the back would only increase the understeer characterisitcs.

if you put wider tires on the back you'll make the understeer much worse, stick with the 225's all round. you will need to reduce the offset of the wheels if they look silly or touch. 235's have rub issues. do not fit a bigger aspect ratio tyre to the back, this will screw the quattro system. I run et25 with 20m spacers, ofset of 45 so you may be ok with et43. the standard s4's suffer from understeer bigger rear tires would make this much worse and not much fun on the limit at all.

ps if they are 19's you'll never get a very good riding/handling car, look good though !!

kies4 Have you tried 19's and suffered from handling problems, I know Doug runs 19's without handling issues!

10mm spacer and 225/40x18 tyre for 8x18 et43 wheel on the B5 S4.

19" is a bit big on the B4 S4, they fit but it will compromise the ride etc.

Sorry, forgot to say they were 18". Looking at getting some tyres from Camskill's, any recommendations, nothing to expensive though!
