Actual Running Temperature on Vag-Com

Hi All,

Got the car back this evening after having the thermostat and water pump changed. Coolant Temp needle on the dash now goes up to 90 mark reasonably swiftly and stays there. Good stuff.

Brought it out to test connected to the vag com and went for a run. Reading block 001 on the vag-com and the temp never got above 82 while driving even though the needle on the dash was dead centre. Is this right? I did park up for a few mins and it went up to 85, but it never got to 90. Is 90 just a typical figure and it can vary slightly below and above?

ps. When the timing belt was off, the sprockets were slackened as well before the new timing belt put on. This seems to have dropped the FATS figures from 5.89 to 5.39....hmmm was the timing not done right before i wonder?

I always find the figures from VAG-COM not as accurate or on par with the temp gauge. I wouldn't worry too much IMO. It's not far out.

The reason they stay around 90 Deg is due to a temp window between 82 and 105 Deg C. the dash is set up to show 90 between these temp readings.

In other words VAG-COM is accurate, dash is set to read 90 when real temp is anywhere between 82 - 105.
