I've never seen anyone even bother to cut them open. Mihnea used an Auger, a chisel
and a blatant disregard for his own safety! :-). Took him less than an hour to do my S4
ones....

smash the bejeesus out of them!

Did mine a couple of weekends ago but didn't go down the route of cutting them open just perservered with some auger wood bits and a 20mm or 25mm staret hole cutter, then pliers and 'old' screwdrivers and lots of patience.
Took me best part of 3.5 hours but worth the effort and not a weld in sight :)

Well worth the time though Adam, you will be well pleased with the results when they are fitted. :D

Hey, what were the steps taken to get the dp's out? What do you have to remove and in what order? Fancy doing this myself too!

Cheers, Ross.

Hmm nice work. What kind of power increase would be achieved from this? Assuming of course the car is mapped to take advantage

I'd say no peak power increase, greater peak torque starting lower in the revs and peak bhp holding for longer.

if you were cutting it - why not cut half the cylinder off around the cat and pull it out in one go? then weld the half cylinder back on - then the DPs won't need jigged to make sure they line up ok???

Doug, how easy does the cat material seperate from the outer casing?

Is it a case that you can just pull the cut casing piece away and the cat will lift out.
