General Advice

Been after a b5 rs4 for a few years, but never been earning enough, i will get their one day.

as a stop gap i was thinking possibly buying an s4 avant the 2.7 bi turbo, i understand you get what you pay for in a way, and feel that id have to look around the 8 to 10 k mark for a good standard of one.

buying the s4 means i will not have to sell my renault 5 gt turbo its a nice standard example, and i am rather worried that when its sold a real idiot may get hold of it and kit it up :(

any way does anybody know anything about this s4 ??

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/304162.htm

any replys would be really appreciated or am i best to save for a while longer and get the b5 rs4

you wont regret buying an s4,very tuneable though so beware credit cards....rs4 power or more is easily achievable, although it probably wont hold its value as well as an rs4 in the long run..

thanks for the greetings :) :) its to cheap that is what concerns me... iam tempted with the s4 avant, but not sure wether to sell up the renni 5 save a few more months and get the rs4... like a dream car really i think the s4 may be a move i regret if i was to compare it to the rs4 ahhh what to do

That seems very cheap.... but depends on the guys circumstances under selling I suppose, just make sure you check out the VIN numbers thoroughly etc. S4s can be V expensive if you are visited by the turbo fairy.

Make sure you vet your buyer for the R5!!.... I used to play with G40s a lot(and still do occasionally!) so thay have the power to weight, my Old G40 according to my G tech meter actually pulled slightly harder than my 360bhp S4 in third gear!!! However the S4 has any FWD firmer beaten in the grip stakes.... easy 3 second advantage over a 1/4 mile.

Even 500bhp can be given to the floor without too much bother. IMHO S4s offer far more bang for buck than RS4s, albeit not the same road presense and spec, kudos etc etc, but an S4 is very easily tunable (with a deep pocket, but youve just saved 10k over an RS4!). Your certainly not alone in wanting an RS4 but not being able to justify the extra £££.

Anyway... I sold my std looking G40 and the guy that bought it from me chavved it up... I was gutted. I'll see if I can dig out some pics....

now iam not posting a classified on a board as i know on rtoc that is frowned upon in a big way. just simply to let you see what iam parting with to move on to a bigger boys turbo.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/313304.htm

i think its looking more as if an s4 is the realistic option, although ever since my uncle sold his rs4 ive wanted one pure class in a car.

so idealy am i looking more nearer the 8k mark for an s4? and this one in question may be to cheap and hiding some nasties

Don't buy an S4 and try to turn it into an RS4!

Buy and S4 as an S4 ...OK there is loads of tuning and stuff if you want, but beware.... the money soon stacks up

If you want an RS4 I'd save for a while and get one.

I bought the S4 as it looks like a boring A4!

well it looks like it's about 2 miles from me if i recognise the park correctly. if you're interested i could nip up and give it a once over to help you make a decision as to whether you want to view it or not

Lemond, totally agree with you on the "trying to turn it into an RS4" I also prefer the understated look... ( as you can see from my polo history!)
Debating 1.9TDI badges for my own S4... Tartanrob stylee
Oh... found some pics: Loveingly cared for Car, subtle mods like sligtly bigger version of std wheel proper brakes not the prayer mat they came with and 160odd bhp 830kg.... as they should have came from the factory, even retained the peashooter exhaust....

Sold it on to a genuine looking chap who then did this to it.....

Gutted.....

My fav Q car is this at the mo....my mates 1980s Biege mk2 polo(including lovely brown interior) Turbo G40, almost 200bhp now, with LSD ,the works..... truely horrid car with daft things in it......funny as hell, you wouldnt be happy with this pulling away from you in your tuned S4 would you?

Christ that looks like a Talbot Sunbeam what a billix.....

My favourite quick 'car' was a mates lightened Transit in ex council colours, a bit lower but made to look really std (no alloys).... Modded Cosworth turbo motor from his written off Sierra Cosworth.... It still didn't handle though! ... no pictures sorry!

Hey that cheapish black S4 might be a half decent car (seriously).... good of Shineydave to offer to pike at it... you never know. Or it could be two half cars (equally as serious?)
