Have i got a problem?

Post by h8cak » Wed Nov 07, 2007 9:30 pm

Did some logs this evening with aikihook in my S4. My Fats came out at 5.13 but my max maf reading was only 247? I have a generic mrc map and since having this done i now have a full cat free st/st system and a performance air filter with a drilled box. I am thinking that my maf reading is a bit low? am i right? And are my fats any good at 5.13?

Ill post the loggs in a bit if that helps.

Is my maf knackered?
Pls help

Its possible you have, but unlikely I would think. Forget about it, have a beer and do some more logs tomorrow :)

Worst case is buy another maf & try it. If it reads the same put it back in its box, you will need it at some point.

My MAF on stage 2 with custom map and gutted precats , free flow exhaust gives me 278 ish on the MAF. So looks liek youre reading low. Post the logs before you go and buy a MAF.

I thought the price was an exhange price - might be expensive to buy one as a spare. I agree that is a respectable FATS time.

These quotes of 278 and 286 MAF readings sound great, but I think are exceptionally high. Maybe your 247 maybe a little lower than average, but don't be scared by these other numbers. My max MAF reading is only about the 260 mark and that is gutted precats, RS4 exhaust and a custom map.

Look at the MRC fats db: http://www.mrctuning.com/fatsview.php?carselect=B5%20S4

Doug (doug_S2) has an entry in there for his S4, K03, all cats gutted on stock exhaust and MRC generic map. His Peak maf is 270 but his fats is 5.75. 19's too.

Here's the log's I did for h8cak

Groop 003

STAMP /min g/s %
105.65 3080 134.75 100
106.57 3600 186.31 100
107.47 4120 202.97 100
108.42 4640 211.86 100
109.42 5160 220.61 100
110.46 5640 231.97 100
111.55 6080 235.28 100
112.68 6480 237.22 100
113.81 6840 235.28 100

STAMP /min g/s %
56.12 3240 159.28 100
57.03 3680 196.56 100
57.93 4120 198.28 100
58.88 4480 210.86 100
59.85 4920 213.47 100
60.87 5320 223.78 100
63 6000 236.11 100
64.37 6360 237.89 100
65.5 6640 238.53 100

As you see the MAF reading seems quite low, the fat scores were 5.13 for the first and 6.79 the second (not so good but it was up the slip road incline :-) )

You could meet up with someone in or near your area with an S4, change the MAF do a log, then change back. Look at results, then youll know if you need to buy a new MAF or not.
