Changing sidelights HELP!

I am completely stuck as to how to get to the little devils, I have one side out and want to replace both with some fancy blue Philips jobbies.

I can see how to get to the Xenon's, but there is a yellow electric shock warning sign that is putting me off some serious tinkering.

Do I need to remove the whole headlight unit? If so which bolts do I take off.

Pics would be nice, I am lost and have searched the forum and web to no avail.

Thanks,

Matt

Not sure if they are the same as the RS4, but if they are, then this threed may help:

http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... hlight=led

I replaced mine, it's pretty fiddly, but it is possible to do it without taking the headlights out.

Are you sure you want to put blue bulbs in though? I went for white LED's as per the thread above, IMHO I think they look better than the yellowy original one's.

HTH.

I had a set of the blue Philips bulbs fitted (too much of a PITA for me!).
They look much better than stock and appear brighter.

You can remove the cover from the zenons to give you more room, but make sure they are off and no metal comes into contact with them back of them (I'm not sure if they hold any charge, but better safe than sorry).

Gonna have a crack in the morning over a cold engine and a fresh temper lol!

taking out the headlight makes it dead easy 4 torx 30's hold it in loosen the rear two then take the upper bolts out completeley, the headlight will then slide forward without even dissconnecting the wiring.

you might want to get a piece of rubber or nylon pipe with an internal diameter slightly less than the diameter of the bulb. you can use it to grip the bulb so you can twist it out of the bayonet fitting

Are they a push fit (W5W) or bayonet type fitting (T4W) ?

they are push fit on preface lift models - and bayonet on facelifts. I know this because after much skin slashing to get the bulb out i found i had the push fit ones when i ordered the bayonet type :(

I still can't figure this out, and I lost one of the torx screws down the side of the light and into the engine bay and now can't find it. I'm going to have to take it to a garage to change a bulb.......I'm so embarrassed..... :?

I do the sidelight bulbs on my facelift all the time (dont seem to last longer than 6 months?). It's a piece of piss to do, no headlight removal required, are we saying you cant do this on a pre-facelift and the headlight has to come out?

I believe mine's the same bulbs as you use, except I have bought the wrong ones. How do you remove the bulbs? Any links to bulbs you've bought? Ta
