seat questions

Post by chunky79 » Sat Oct 06, 2007 6:17 pm

Hi guy's. Ive tried doing a search for the answers but can't find what i need. I was wondering if all S4's have the wiring under the seats so electric seats can be fitted to cars that don't already have them fitted?
Also, can recaro's be fitted to face lift s4 avant's? (front and rear)

I know recaro's can be fiteed to face lift avants, but they require seats from the avant to fit nicely.

Not sure about the wiring.

Cheers saf.
It would make finding a car that little bit easier if i new i could put full electric seats in at a later date. Had them in the s3 and would find it hard to be without them now

It's really easy to get the electrics working on the seats. You just need to run a wire from one of the power terminals under the steering column.

Getting the electric heating working would be more of a task. For starters you'd need to get hold of some heater controls.

Wait, do S4's come with heated recaros over there? None of the B5's came with recaros here in the States...

Think the heated seats were an option on all of the leather seats, but most of the Recaros came heated. I remember reading something a while back suggesting that all the Audi Recaros actually had the heating elements fitted, but sometimes the wiring/connectors weren't put in.

Obviously the guys at Audi were picturing a sunny Baywatch beach in summer rather than the bitterly cold winters when they planned their USA spec cars.

it's NEVER been confirmed that the Recaros are all heated, the plug is not there on mine for sure. So my bet is that they are NOT all heated as standard.

My Recaro's aren't heated. Never used to care until my wifes new car came with them :(

This isn't proof, but I bought my Recaros direct from Recaro UK, who confirmed that the heating elements are fitted as standard.

I would LOVE to retrofit this to my car but without ripping the seats apart seems like there's no way to tell if the elements are in there or not...

There's no loom for cars which didn't have electric seats installed as a factory option.
