Facelift Vs Pre-facelift
Facelift Vs Pre-facelift
Apart from the visual difference (Front headlights, Side repeaters, and washer sprays), what other bits are there ? And are they worth it ?
RE: Facelift Vs Pre-facelift
There is lots of info on the differences in here if you search. Here is a good one:

Audi S4 Facelift Vs Pre-Facelift
Pre Oct 99
Oct 99 - Dec 99
Post Dec 99
Some cars, in mid-changeover, had the facelift body, but the pre-facelift insides. Mine is an example of this. These are sometimes referred to as "1999.5" models
Facelift
Once Piece Headlights and Indicators (not two separate units)
Centre Console has different switches and layout
Digital clock with date on the Dash
Concealed windscreen washer jets (Not on bonnet)
S4 badge moved from the top lip of the boot to next to the number plate
Some even later cars have different S4 badge on the back and dash
Better Designed K03 turbo with bigger oil lines
Exhaust manifold was modified
F-pipe was removed
Cover over battery compartment
Front & rear brake setups
Heated seats switches move from high up to low down
AC controls different
Pushbuttons in dash are wide rather than tall
Audi ESP
Reversing lights to the lower half of the rear cluster,
Rectangular side repeaters
Pre-Facelift
Flush fit door handles
Square side repeaters
Separate headlights and front indicators
Windscreen washers on bonnet
Anyone add to this ?

Bootlid and rear bumpers differ.
High level brake light carpeted on facelift.
Your list for facelift is a little misleading as it depends which facelift. The F-hose delete was only vvvvvv very late cars i believe.

Is this really the case? I have never seen a 99.5 car that had some of the external mods and not others. For example, I know that the headlights were not updated without changing the side repeaters and body mouldings because the front wings were different to accommodate these.jfeb wrote:99.5 cars also vary in which facelift features they get. There isn't a "standard" 99.5 feature list.
Likewise I have never seen a 99.5 car with the external body updates that didn't have the facelifted centre consule.
John
Sorry - I should have been more specific (although I had meant to type "internal features"). 99.5 cars vary in which internal facelift features they have. All seem to have the newer centre console, some have digital clock - some have analogue clock, some have ESP - some don't (OK, not really an internal feature - other than the button to turn it off!)
I was just being lazy with my typing

jfeb,
No apology needed. Just wanted to clarify my own understanding!!
yorkie,
As far as I can see there is no reason why the bulkhead scuttle panels shouldn't fit the pre-facelift cars. They are secured by the rubber seal that runs along the rear of the engine bay and slide underneath the windscreen lower plastic trim.

I think you might be right. I recall it down to something like the battery or brake fluid bottle position being a little different.
