If it aint true its a good way to peddle an engine!
I suspect the bloke in the pub knows a man whos dog was run over by a man who knew somebody who says that S4's have weak bottom ends.
Ask a (reputable) tuner like MRC. They have got references of big power V6's

The S4 engines are not weak at all.
That advert is froma guy that doesnt have a clue about S4's. Its been discussed on here before. Really makes me laugh what he says. I wouldnt trust an engine from there at all.
The S4 block as standard is good for 500 brake reliably. Any more thn you need to change rods and pistons , more the rods. And 500 brake is nearly twice the power of 265 brake. So I would definitely say without a doubt, its not a weak engine.
Probably only a weak engine if you buy one from him though as god knows what its been through, treated etc.
Buy a facelift avant made, greats car, you wont be dissapointed. Nuff said!!!!

Of course here (rs246) you will see discusions of what goes wrong and what goes right....
.... The car is pretty 'right' unless you need wings and stickers... then its wrong..... very wrong... ...
...so wrong its never right!

What a load of old fleabay drivel 'weak bottom end Etc' this comment is exceptional!
From experience, it is not worthwhile to start fixing these engines as they are not designed for that.
Yeh right
