Just checked my car with vag com..
1 Fault Found:
17862 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Short to Ground
P1454 - 35-10 - - -
easy to fit? prices? any ideas? lol
would that also explain the seat of the pants ometer feeling a slight lack of power or should I be checking for MAF problems too? (none logged as errors)
Cheers,
a

The boys at MRC found that one of mine had packed up....fortunately it was the offside or rhd drivers one, managed to change it in 15 mins. The one on the other side is the more difficult one......
Vag com should be able to tell you which one is causing you problems....

going by the "Sensor 1" that looks like the passenger side and as clubsport says that is the worst one to get at

I have been through same recently (there's a thread in here somewhere on it). Golich seems to have the most recent hands on experience.

I changed my EGT about a month or so ago. I'm sure mine was sensor 1 and that was the easy one to do (drivers side).
Easiest way to check is, follow the wiring from the drivers side egt and disconnect it. Start the car and run vag com again, this time (if it is this sensor) the fault code will still come up but it will say something else instead of 'short to ground'.
If however, you have TWO egt 235 sesnor faults....then its the harder one to replace. But im fairly certin drivers side or from front view, the left side is bank one and the passenger side (or right hand side from front view) is bank 2.
HTH,
