Hi guys need more info to see if this car is a face lift model or not as i cannot tell, going to look at it tomorrow, 68,000 miles ,fash, full leather interior, all the toys,18 " alloys it also looks slightly lowered. What should i look out for when viewing it like some form of check list of common s4 faults, it is in the autotrader for £9,900

Pre facelift.

Small side repeaters.
Washer jets on top of bonnet.
Two peice front lights.
"scoop" front fogs.
Thin side rubbing strip.
Not so pointy wing mirrors.
Flush, or flatter door handles.
"Bulging" number plate light.
No rubber boot release button.

I guess it depends on what 'all the toys' mean to you? Usual options were BOSE, armrest, cruise & 6 CD. Rare options are recaro trim, sunroof, sat nav - have I missed any?

Looks lowered to me too, however it could be that the suspension is shot and it's sitting lower at the back due to the angle of the driveway. Listen for unusual whistling or whoosing noises as the turbos spool up (around 2500rpm). Best to get a specialist to check it over if the seller will agree to it? VAG-COM will check if it's been chipped or has a duff MAF or boost leak problems.

Ask the owner when the MAF and BPV's were last changed - if he/she scratches his/her head, they could've been faulty for a while and he may not have noticed the drop off in power.

Good luck.

Is the drivers door slightly open, as in the middle photo, it looks like the lower trim doesn't line up correctly??

well my pre face lift was up for 12,995..and guess what i bought it..admittedly it only had 75,000 miles but if i,d ave known what i know now i would have haggled on price or walked away..now with all the money i,ve spent on it i think it mite be worth somewhere near what i paid for it.. but i mite be wrong...and if u do buy that car please remove the chrome number plate surrounds.. :redrs4:

yeah the plates would be the first thing to go then the clear back lights that are fitted to it. My mates have those greman style plates fitted to their volkswagens and i must admit they are cool looking ( i come from a strong jap car background two r32 gtrs the second a rare 550 bhp v spec 2) I never thought i would be lured away from my fast jap mobiles but fast audi have a space in wish list.....oh if only i could have a rs4

just my 2p, but i think that's a very good price for a well specced avant. When i say very good, i mean unusually realistic. :D

nah david i have not bought it yet but i am going to see it and test it tomorrow in newcastle, i did however come across a rs4 for £19,000 in a garage that i know of but they have a poor reputation ( when i was right into my jap cars went twice and it was all <beep>, but this being a uk car might be different) by selling my quad bike for what i want i will have enough to buy it pooling all my resources together, here it is

The Noggy RS4 is being sold by Keightly auto centre. Like schorchio said theyve got some ropey old stock - id give that one a miss unless you can get Audi/ RAC/MRC to give it a once over.
