Newbie here (I know! Pain in the ass questions AGAIN !!)so be nice - please

had a 99 s4 avant for 12 months in 04. Eibach kit, otherwise standard, lousy access road forced sale.
WHAT A MISTAKE !!! singularly the worst mistake in 20 years - bar none (have now had road fixed).

Previous history includes - escort rs2000 (Stacks and mustard tank tops- how cool was that :-), golf gti mk2, escort xr3 (well we all make mistakes), Sunbeam lotus - supercool to this day with the black stripe and lotus logo, porsche 924 turbo - Blew the turbo when dropping the clutch at ridiculous revs when pissed as a fart (god am i that old ?),Sierra cossie (rough as a bag of nuts until the pistons warmed up - but still the only car i've ever owned where you looked in the mirror and you could see people mouthing "what the f**k" as they craned their necks, now everything has a whale tail!, supercharged lancia beta volumex - dead sexy as only the eyties can design !
vauxhall vx220 (male menopause but - wow - it was like a go cart, fabulous on b roads. Now i'm old, and i need another s4 - THE ONLY CAR 'IVE EVER WANTED ANOTHER OF !!! I think that says more about the car than any list of specs.

So anyway-to the point. Cant afford new s4 avant, dont really want to pay £22000 plus for low mileage one,(would rather wait for year or two for secondhand new versions,) torn between 13 - 16 ish for 70-80,000 examples, or 6 -7 for 140,000 ones. Can change brake systems, suspensions etc etc with the best of em.If i,m not looking to spec up a car, what else apart from belts, turbos and maybe steering should i be watching for in this low "beer money" bracket ??

Hope I Didn't bore anyone, but we all like cars right?

Kev

Hi Kev,

I'm in the same boat - looking for an S4 Avant.

Rare as rocking horse sh1te!!!! (I'm hoping that they must be THAT good!! :D)

Looking to spend around the same sort of money too - best of luck, I've now been looking for one for a month. Can't even find one to test drive without having to travel over 100 miles :(

I hoping it's worth the wait (coming from a Scooby)

Dano :)
