Post by springfield » Fri Dec 09, 2005 10:32 pm

Not me but a guy who I work with has the "all or nothing" volume control on his Audi A4 1.8T ie;volume control buggered, is there a fix for this or any repairers out there?

OE Electronics on Calne, Wiltshire fix this for about £65. They replace the chip on some board.

how'd you get the head unit out?
I've fitted loads of ice before in previous cars but head unit doesn't seem to give any clues on how to get it out.

Also, anyone know if Audi/Bose still sell that model head unit, don't really want an aftermarket one.

Its The Encoder within the unit - How the guys in Berlin explained when I got my unit fixed, cost just over €100 with postage, also I didnt have a code for unit, instead of me going to MD, I got them to burn it, which left me with a memory code fault code on my unit, just a code - no errors,
At least I could listen to my unit in the first 15 mins of me driving.....
Units pull out with the correct keys - slip em in the front(bottom of front on unit) ---- feet on the dash - open the tailgate if you got an Avant ..... grin - tug - it will go eventually ........ :s4addict:

I think ? that the head units are the same in Bose and non Bose models just the amps and speakers are different ?there was a set of these on e-bay recently.
Audi can get you the radio code via the headunit chassis number.
