Anyone has any experience with the DBA 4000 discs? I'm running Stage 2+ and am wondering if upgrading to DBAs with high temp fluid and pads will be sufficient for periodic spirited driving and track events... Or do i really need to upgrade my calipers?

Theses discs are excellent, have them on the front of my car, fitting the rear discs soon.

I have the std longlife gold slotted & cross drilled on the front of my S4 and with pagid fast road pads (not pagid blue) they work really well - haven't had any fade yet.

Where can I buy DBA discs in the UK? I'm having trouble finding a supplier - the one I'd found a while back doesn't seem to exist online anymore.

Moktoya - Nope, I have the gold long life single piece with drilled & slots - if I have to replace them, I would go for slotted only and probably the 4000 series (does anyone know how much they are?)

Iain S4 - I got mine from silverfish performance who are (were?) the UK distributors for DBA Aus.

I've been so disappointed with the overall performance of the brakes on my S4 that I think any money spent on standard discs would be a waste. Replacing the pads with EBC Green Stuff and changing the fluid did effect a slight improvement but not much.

I actually considered the DBA discs a while ago but thought the improvement I wanted could only be obtained with a kit that included replacing the callipers and I can't justify the cost of a Movit or Porsche based upgrade. However, I've now been suffering from the same slight judder under braking as you and I’m going to change the discs to something other than Audi OEM.

The following link may be of interest on the benefits of different discs. At the end of the day its one persons opinion but at least he has been able to experiment and compare different set ups. I was surprised by his conclusion that the disc is really the weak link and that the S4 calliper is perhaps not the rusty piece of junk that I thought it was.

http://www.bira.org/info_main.html - once opened click on "technical ramblings" and then on "Comments on the neu-S4 HP-2 brakes"

There are alternatives on the market but I think you are going to pay similar money for anything that is an improvement over the standard discs.

EBC, D1150 (plain, non-grooved) - £91.04 per disc
EBC, GD1150 (grooved & cross drilled......dimpled) - £116.33 per disc
prices from www.brakes4u.co.uk

Tarox list G88 discs in their catalogue. Could not find any S4 prices online but S3 discs for example are £233.83 per pair

At present the group buy only has 4 people interested

B*****!!! Could also be because I screwed up......twice. Sorry folks.

I had previously made enquiries to Wallace regarding the price but then it was some time before I posted the group buy. When I checked if the prices were still applicable they had gone up by £17.63 per disc as they are all air freighted in now to speed up delivery. I added £17.63 to the price of the set, not per disc. I also made an error above in the discount for the 5 sets - 5% instead of 10%.

The corrected prices for Audi S4 (2.7 Twin Turbo) brake discs are as follows

DBA4000S £256.16 (slotted brake discs)
DBA4000XS £273.20 (Slotted and X-drilled brake discs)

Based on the discounts Wallace have offered the group buy prices work out as follows

5 sets - 10% discount (S = £230.54, XS = £245.88 )
5 to 10 sets - 15% discount (S = £217.74, XS = £232.22)
10 or more sets - 20% discount (S = £204.93, XS = £218.56)

KayGee - 5000 series are £285 per disc

Postage within UK - £10
