Hi. I'm new on here so thought I'd say hello! I currently run an Impreza turbo withh PPP, this gives about 240bhp, I am seriously thinking of changing to an S4, what would the 0-60 0-100 times be on an S4 as I wouldn't want to get to far off the pace of the Impreza! I know the insurance is cheaper with the S4, (I've checked) and I would hope the S4 would be a lot more comfortable.

I think you'll find that the std S4 will give a 240bhp Imprezza a good run for it's money (but it won't feel as quick, as the S4 delivers it's power in a very linear way). An S4 with a stage 1 upgrade 310hp will be both quicker and more comfortable :D but only in a straight line :(

The torque of the S4, even in standard guise still feels more than a Scooby. The main difference I noticed was the torque range - the S4's is so broad that it pulls well in all gears whereas the Scooby has to be got in the right gear at the right revs to go. I was always caught out by the turbo lag of the Scooby, whereas with the S4 now I just keep finding myself in 5th or 6th gear at low speeds because it's so easy!

As Nige mentioned, the handling of a stock S4 is not up to Impreza standards, and nor are the brakes. Both can be easily fixed for a few grand. I am confident that my S4 is quicker thana stock or chipped WRX on any road. I'm not so sure about an STi however.

As for comfort they are leagues apart.

The quoted 0-62 for a stock S4 is 5.6 secs for the saloon IIRC.

Agreed, I drive 20 something miles to work every day, dual carriage way, B roads and finally A roads and often pickup the odd Scooby en route, with the exception of a maniac(I don't say this lightly) in a dark green scooby(I have no death wish), no worries, S4 keeps 'em humble. Also the S4 is seriously sleeper material, most people don't notice it, until it blasts past....sweet. Wouldn't recommend trying an RA however they will eat you alive on anything other than a very straight road.

Thanks guy's. My scoob is a classic, so is a good 100kg lighter than the new age ones and the extra torque from the PPP keeps it moving along very nicely. I also have the Prodrive 330mm brake conversion! so would I notice a big difference with the stock S4 items? The main reason for the change would be the points you have mentioned ie comfort, equipment, and the fact that in the scoob every Chav on the road wants to race me!! and at 47 I'm a little past racing, but do on occasion enjoy a good fast blast, and the power to overtake safely.

Yes, you'll find the S4 stock brakes to be laughable in comparison. It sounds like you would succumb to the tuning bug so be prepared for:

Remap £1K
Brakes £2K+
Suspension £1K
Maybe exhaust £1.5K
Short-shifter £(negligible in comparison)
And don't forget to do something about the TBB (maybe f-hose) and DVs £(also negligible in comparison)

Thanks Dippy you may be right!! As well as the PPP, & Prodrive brakes, It's got prodrive 18" wheels, prodrive quick shift, prodrive suspension. So I probably would want a few!!! mods :lol:
