As suggested, the one`s I have seen with problems have tended to be older pre-facelift cars fitted with just the H+R 21mm rear rollbars kit. The cars with coilovers and the H+R thick rear bar sets seem to be holding up ok.

Some of the older subframes are quite rusty especially on cars that live by the coast. I always waxoil the underside/subframes as part of the service.

My car is MY2000. The subframe is not particularly rusty. I have stress cracks either side on ARB mounting
plats and the NS toe link is cracked through to the edge (stress crack). To me, this is a clear sign that the OEM
design cannot handle the additional stresses placed on it by the 21mm bar. It's just not up to it. I would advise
getting hold of the Neuspeed hardware kit (HWK.25.02.22.4 22mm bar) or waiting to see what Doug comes up
with. I am trying to get H&R to comment - anybody with any experience of complaining to a manufacturer
have advice for me?

So this isn't something we've collectivly seen on stock rear ARB cars? What about cars with the thinner H&R rear arb?

Basically with the thinner arb do you think I am at risk?

I certainly want to take preventative measures if I am likely to be affected..

Just been at MRC and taken a look at mine - I have fractures on the drivers side rear ARB mount (but not on the passenger side) - running thick rear H+R ARB plus the rear-ARB stiffener mod.

Doug is getting something made up to deal with this problem in the next couple of weeks.

Rust issues, huh. Looks like I'll be buying that strengthening too, then.

You only get cracks when you've been pulling decent g in the bends. well done to all who have succeeded.
Come on Doug, there's time for you yet.

Brackets are looking like they will be £110+v for a set including all hardware. I am hoping to have these available next week.

For people who have already suffered from the stress fractures, will they be able to simply weld up the cracks and then fit one of these strengthening kits, or will a new/replacement subframe be neccessary as well as the strengthening kit?

I'm hoping it's going to be a case of weld & strengthen rather than a new bloody sub-frame too!
