True, didnt know Audi Glasgow did MTM remapping though...

I'm not sure anyone else does true custom remapping in the UK?

DNA tuning also do custom tuning.

So.

On a stock car is it worth it.
Are Audi engines that variable that it is really neccesary.
What difference in power are expected.
Anyone got a dyno of generic V custom code.
If you've had custom how long did it take to do/how was it done. What difference did you find.
It's tailored to your car. What is? Boost timing, fueling, hows it decided.
Whats a "True Custom" and not True.

Let bust myth with facts. This could be good.

Clive I posted the MTM info in the tuning and mods forum on the 4th of this month. Maybe Dippy is right when he says people aren't using the whole of this site properly! LOL. :bigblink:

I'm considering a custom remap for my 4. I've been running MTM stg III since August and once you start tinkering its very hard to stop as I'm sure some of you gentlemen will agree. My first thought would be to go back to QST but then there is also MRC as an option. I haven't investigated or compared prices at this stage. I like the idea of having the car tailored to my driving style or requirements and would be interested to explore the full perameters of this in more detail before I commit.

I look forward to reading the replies to stimps qs above.....

@ stimp.i had my remap done by DNA Tuning and some time later had it dyno,d and the figures are spot on to what the tuner said they would be..i didnt ask the dyno man to try and adjust anything not really sure if he could have anyway but once my precats get done i will have another to see what sort of improvement, gain i have made..maybe before i have the p,cats done i mite have a FATS run done then 1 again after and see what it shows up..

The remap situation can get rather commercial. It can take quite a bit of time and effort for a custom remap, especially on a car like the S4 because the owners tend to be true enthisuasts and have high expectations. At present MRC's prices do not reflect the true effort because they are building up a new business (new to the UK that is). In time their prices will undoubtedly rise.

More established tuners who have grown tend to be more commercial, and who can blame them. They can stick a quick generic remap on a 1.8T, 2.0T or any of the Tdis and the owner will be more than happy. The ROI on this beats custom tuning by far.

Dippy,

Maybe, maybe not. I'm fairly sure MRC do a lot of custom tuning because it is a competitive selling point. I can get the tune I want in terms of power delivery, I get my cars health checked before hand and confidence the car is running correct, after tuning. All for a small premium over the cost of a generic (in fact in some cases cheaper than a generic) remap.

Also means MRC can remap any tuned car, regardless of what kit is fitted. I can now pretty much do any mod I want to my car and know MRC can tune it. Try that with REVO, APR, AMD or QST. I don't need to stick to bolting on expensive RS4 parts.

This is good for tuned S4 owners everywhere, hopefully we'll start to see more tuning parts manufacturers and tuned car owners look at the S4 as a power platform and generate more interest in it.

Lastly most other chip suppliers can't offer a custom remap, they don't have the kit or the knowledge.

aint that abit strong..i mean most if not all the above tuners u mention have dyno,s.. MRC dnt as yet..mite be worth saving that comment until they do,then there custom remap will just get better and better..and there books fuller and fuller..can u really do a custom remap just by driving it about the streets?? good that mite be but dyno,d must be better surely..i,m not taking anything away from MRC they do a great job and will use them myself soon enough..just seems like that sort of comment mite put newbies off using any1 else..

I know what you mean, as you can't expect everyone to be able to drive to the limits on the road, but doing it that way does emulate real world conditions much better than a dyno could ever do.
