What Power to expect
RE: Re: RE: What Power to expect
1781cc, yes. Apparently the last iteration that we've done revs up to 8500 RPM (solid lifters there) and runs like nutz.... dyno graph tomorrow I hope, I'm more than curious. I'll ask the guy to measure some 100-200km/h or quarter mile times to see if the figures make sense... the driveline losses sure don't look outrageously high or anything like that at least...

What would you expect from a S4 with K04s and a full Milltek exhaust (with cats) running a remap and 98 Octane ?

RE: Re: RE: What Power to expect
Jeff: if it's just K04's, no IC mods, no fuel pump/fuel pressure regulator mods, I'd say around maybe 350? The limiting factor is the fuel pump and the ICs on the S4...

Re: RE: What Power to expect
Sorry for not replying earlier Nige,
The RS4 fuel pump or a Bosch Motorsport unit (flows even more) is good enough for 480-500HP IMHO/IME.
The 5 Bar FPR won't bring anything on a stock fuel pump, as it's the pump that can't provide the fuel flow at the top end, so by raising fuel pressure you'll be able to have more fuel in the mid-range, but at the top end the pump will be working even harder and fuel pump failure could be expected...
Either mods won't bring any benefits without a remap, especially if the remap is already running the fuel system at its limits...

Nige_S4 wrote:Mihnea, what fuel pump would you recommend - the RS4 pump or 5bar FPR?? And are there any benefits of fitting one without a specific remap?
Nige.
RE: Re: RE: What Power to expect
Yes Mihnea, it is generally accepted that the MAHA is a better dyno and shows lower figures.
And yes, we both know it's a great mystery when it's measured at the wheels.

RE: Re: RE: What Power to expect
@Chris: I've never experienced Maha/Bosch dynos to read lower. When I tuned an RS4 on a Bosch, it did 381 HP/445Nm stock (factory rated 380 HP/440Nm) at the flywheel.
Hey, still gotta get back to your email, will do that ASAP

I have a Maha dyno run in front of me for just that spec which is 351 BHP & 566Nm.....What would you expect if the Injectors and Fuel Pump where changed (assuming a remap)?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: What Power to expect
Optimax is 98 ....not really going to make that much difference though.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: What Power to expect
Shell don't quote a RON for Optimax do they?

Yes they do.....a RON of 98.

This should clear it up ....Shell don't quote a RON for Optimax do they?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: What Power to expect
Thanks Nige, that settles the matter. If someone at Shell is prepared to state that Optimax is refined to between 98 and 98.5 RON then why don't they f***ing state it at the pump!
