There's a transmission place near Bridgewater, often have a small ad in Audi Driver, can't remember their name ( currently at work). Well established from memory , article about them in Audi Driver earlier this year ( rebuilt Peter Noad's gearbox from his series 1 80 GT that he rallies. Never heard of Car Gears but then I don't move in the same circles as AmD !! Did Scott recommend ? Sure he used to live in Reading?? Ask over on Tyresmoke as well.

I had considered using the specialists in Bridgewater however you'll need to have someone remove the gearbox as this company didn't offer a full sevice - they are only rebulders. So there is a cost of (IIRC) around £500 for the gearbox removal and replacemrent

I would get a specialist to diagniose the problem but in order to ensure that you receive a reliable and efficient rebuild I would, knowing what I know now, take the car to a main Audi dealer. Sure it will cost more but you'll have a gearbox repair which is guarenteed and carried out to a high standard - and if not then you'll have recourse to compensation. Certaily worth peace of mind.

Let is know how you get on.
