Stage 2++ should be close to 365-370 HP... I know I had 360 on full exhaust with no cats and stock ICs....

indeed...I think I'd consider my car to be:

Stage2++ = Chip + full exhaust + Intercoolers + Panel filter. 3?0

and likely when ATP release their eliminator range of bolt on turbos for the S4, there'll maybe be a stage4+/stage5 option ranging to ~600bhp :D

I just got my s4 yesterday, so I'm content with aiming for the chip+exahaust at this point. I know very well that when I get there I'll want more, but this post asked about this christmas specifically. :)

Mihnea,

400Bhp Bhp with RS6 hybrids? Why would someone buy hybrids to get K04 Bhp?

Hmmmm I don't remember saying 400 HP on RS6 hybrids, of course they can do that but that would be understressing them, lol.

As for Garretts, whomever can read a compressor map will soon see that there are no interesting GT series turbos available for the S4 engine unfortunately.... :( I have spent 4 hours last weekend playing with compressor maps, engine volumetric efficiency and flow charts and I am disappointed by most of the GT series Garretts, plus, as far as reliability goes, no one has had them in their cars for long enough so we can say if they are reliable or not. KKK's are OEM and they are reliable (from K04s up), that is a fact, full stop.

HTH,

Mihnea

Actually, In my limited experience... I have found the GT series are LESS relieble than the normal T thrust bearing type... but again in my limited experience KKK's seem to fail more often than Garrets, BUT thay could be down to vehicle design rather than the Turbo itself...... and also there may be more KKK's than garrets in my circles (ie VAG)

As an interesting side point, the opinion of the poll I did on turbo upgrades would show Garrets as the favourable option.....(if you can be arsed with a new manifold)

Now bowing out not wanting to get in involved in a turbo debate ;) .... Ive heard good things and bad things about the GT series... more bad than good actually.... But no personal experience.....

So what hybrids were you talking about for 400Bhp?

I'm guessing either one of the K03/K04 or K03/K16 hybrids as a cheaper alternative to K04s?

Jeez...Presume these will come with bolt-on wings and a tail fin?

I hear with these bigger turbos automatically comes bigger lag particularly with K04s and up. A remap is supposed to get round this problem, however some have said that it makes no difference and lag isn't really overcome that well regardless. Can anyone elaborate on this.
SKN remap, K&N Filter, Miltek CatBack Twin Jet-

I guess that was a misunderstanding, for 400 BHP I'd recommend plain jane K04s and nothing else. For more, after spending a while with compressor maps recently, K04/RS6 with big mods to the hot sides can go up to 500, more I don't know. My car is getting K04/RS6 hybrids in 2 weeks, then we'll see what they actually can do...

Cheers,

Mihnea
