Kudos to the DP

Post by eric_mok » Thu Oct 21, 2004 1:43 pm

I have just installed the Milltek DP having already done an MTM ECU mod and Milltek dual catback. I'm so happy with the results i really want to share it here.

The car has basically transformed from a lazy revver to a hungry beast keep wanting you to keep your foot down until redline. Interesting enough, it is exactly the result i was expecting when I went for the catback, the result of which is well documented by many of you. In my opinion, if the catback is good for 20hp according to Audiworld (which i seriously doubt), the DP must be at least good for 50hp, on a relative basis of course.

I'm not sure if the performance is down more to the widened flowpath (from <2.25" to 2.3") or the elimination of the precat and inclusion of the 200 cell maincat, the results are nothing short of mind-blowing. (for my still mild state of tune of course)

I know it's expensive, and I know it's dificult to fit, but the results really make it worthwhile. Really want to convince everyone here to move the DP up their priority if it's under plan.

Eric

What the hells a DP? I assume you're meaning sports cats? If so, where did you get them from and who fitted them?

cheers

yes, some call it downpipe and some call it sports cat. It's actually a combination of the 2. Well, I'm located thousands of miles away here in Asia, so i dont think you're interested in my vendor/installer....

Eric,

FYI had mine fitted a while ago and needed a remap to add fuel at the top end.
I got used to the extra torque and power quite quickly. :(
2001 Silver S4 Avant
AmD remap, APR R1 DVs, APR bipipe, Full Miltek exhaust
H&R coilovers, AWE DTS, Porsche front brakes, Short-shifter, 18" RS4 replicas
Defi-HUD boost gauge / turbo-timer (with afterrun pump modification), Phatbox

IC Dippy, I think u (or maybe Nige the other guru, i dont remember) had mentioned b4 that any remap for the 2+ setup wud have to be custom or else it's practically useless, but aptitude of tuners around here make it very difficult to do custom stuff with the ECU. Do you think off the shelf MTM wud do? Also, does the engine sound or otherwise behave diferently when it is thirsting for fuel at the top end? I certainly dont feel anything, just yet....

Thx
