225/40/18 Tyre Pressures
225/40/18 Tyre Pressures
Now that I've got my new wheels, I need to confirm the tyre pressures I should use. The fitter set them at 32 all round.
Does anyone know what pressures I should set? Is there an 'official' figure?

I've got 235/40/17's on standard wheels and I run 38 all round.
I tried 34 and they just felt loose - too much give in the sidewalls I guess. 40 is too bouncy.
You will notice a harder ride I expect because of the lower profile, I did. It always amazes me when I swap to 45 tyres (track wheels) just how much of a difference there is.

Thanks David. Although I've not had much time to judge, I haven't noticed the ride being much harder at all.
However the car does feel a little bit 'loose' when cornering hard, so maybe I should use a higher pressure and that will make the ride harder.
Does anyone else have a comment?

Dippy, here's a selection of answers when I asked the same question last year ...

I currently run 36 on the front and 34 on the rear - I tried 38 all round, but my teeth didn't like it on all but the smoothest of roads.
