You also need to check around the rear toe adjustment bolt as mine had also cracked up through the bracket from just beneath the bolt to well above it meaning you then need a new subframe as mine did, its almost impossible to weld this area!

MRC for the brackets or make your own as I did. Easy bolt on job though.

I'm going to look into getting it welded one day next week, just gotta find someone who can do a decent job.....

Can you still supply the support brackets Doug or can you get them? I'm due a good health check aswell so maybe could tie it in together?
Hmmm, its fast but is it fast enough!!!

:) 6mm metal plate and some less than attractive welding, £30, job done. (same the other side)

That's a good price you paid for the work you had done. I've been quoted £100 to have the cracks welded and a plate put on each side similar to tdi's.....

Does £100 pound sound steep or did tdi get a bargain job done.....

Also would i still need to fit the brackets or would the welded plate be enough?

Well after reading all this I just had to go out and have a look under mine as I've had a mystery knocking from the rear of mine for bloody ages now and still not solved it, also setting up the heights for the coilovers to match the arches either side there seemed to be quite a difference from one side to the other in the amount of threads that were left to get it all sitting level, however at a quick glance there doesn't appear to be any cracking anywhere from what i can see with just the car sitting on the ground. I will investigate further when I get chance.

I guess this should get picked up on MOTs? Any more pictures of all the places I should be checking? Looked where other people have had faults but want to check thoroughly.

Does anybody know if the welded plate will be enough without fitting the bracket's?

Thanks in advance....

My subframe has gone too! Oh dear this is gonna hurt the wallet......

Anyone got a spare subframe for a saloon pre facelift?

Fixed now, suspect the tyre idiots that fitted the Dunlops did it.

I thought the tyres were shockingly bad since never felt planted since they were fitted in March..........

However now the subframe is fixed they feel 300% better. Whats the betting they jacked the car up on the ARB mounting plate?
