Car prices B5 S4 Whats a K04 car worth.
Car prices B5 S4 Whats a K04 car worth.
Just wondering what to pay for a K04 car, or what one will sell for?
Usual spec, Leather interior, 1999 or 2000 face lift model.
420 brake RS4 Intercoolers.
120,000 miles on clock.
RS4 B7 brakes
DTS and or ARB
This kind of spec.
Im either goign to mod mine to this spec or wait for one to turn up.
Some smaple prices of what you guys think this sort of spec shoudl go for would come in handy. Ill have to seel it one day if I mod mine so Id liek to know what Id get for it in a few years time too.
Thanks.

There is not really a set price - it will be worth what someone is willing to pay for it at the time. Certainly you will not recoup the investment you put into it - thats the way with modding. You should always mod a car with a certain goal in mind - power, handling etc but a higher sell value should not be one.
I think it will definately be cheaper to buy a ready modded car than to do it yourself

^ what they said ^
Im about to spend upwards of 15k on a 7k preface lift s4, I know I will never get that money back, thats why ill never sell it!
Not looked into buying pre-mod'd cars unfortunately.
Saying that, that mileage on a 99/00 car is pretty high,
I guess itd come down to condition.

Agree with the above, and it's something I've been thinking about as I'm looking to buy a quattro'd 400bhp+ Audi at the moment.
Standard S4 prices have tumbled lately, but it still costs a fair amount (£5000+?) to get a stock one and do the bits to get it to 420bhp ish, although when modding you can't just add on the cost of the mods to the stock car value and sell it for that.
Also the prices of RS4s / RS6s will have an effect on what they sell for. If you're thinking of going down the modded S4 route, how much extra will it cost to just skip the S4 and go straight into an RS6 / RS4 with more power built in as standard? Much better resale value, lower mileage, better spec, some with Audi warranty still available etc.
I've been looking at some really nice RS6s, from independent dealers around the £16,000 mark. All around 50,000 miles and unless I can save a substantial amount by buying a heavily modded S4, then I'd be mad not to jump into one of these.
I guess the thing that works in the S4's favour is that most owners who have heavily modded them, won't be prepared to take such a bit financial hit and sell, so they will hang on to them. Hence they don't come around that often!!

Two that I've taken an interest in were Robs old S4 which was running about 480bhp - sold on here for about £8000. Then there was Mattsimis Imola S4 which was K04'd with lots of other nice mods. I think it went for about the same price ~ £8000.
It's all down to what someone will pay. I certainly wouldn't pay £9000 for a 100,000 mile pre facelift avant, just because it's had the K04 conversion done.

The Dilema I have is that my car needs the clutch doing. Being on K03's and mileage qiuite high, id be mad not to do the turbos. Im planning to do these ifI get the clutch done which is most probable seeing what standard Ko4;s go for. One with a burn out clutch that needs work will go for less than 5K.
Mine is 130 K mark. Full Audi service and a 2000 face lift model with elecy heated recaroes, all other extras, sat nav, 18 inch original S4 alloys. I also have all the kit I collected for the upgrade, like DTS, ARB's and 3 inch downpipes, and RS6 Brakes and calipers. Tey are not on the car yet. I could sell the car as is, and sell the bits which Id get quite a bif for anyway. Still dont think id get £8000 in total. But If I was to do the labour and get turbos done and bolt all this on, id expect to get around £9000 for the end product after a year. Selling this off and buying one already done saves the hassle and the labour costs but I dont htink id get much for mine from the reaction you guys have given me.
An RS4 is another idea but too much money right now. just got married and the RS4 wont go down to well with the missus.
Id feel gutted selling my car for £5000 when I paid £10000 for it under 3 years ago.
Thanks for the replys guys. I might aswell mod it up and sell for what I can get later.

nice buy! where was it advertised I didn't see this one for sale?gareths4 wrote:I just bought my 2001 Avant y reg S4 Avant with ko4 turbos, rs4 clutch and Porsche front and rear brakes etc with 105000 miles for only £5400 its had over £20000 spent on ot so I think I got a bit of a bargain!
I think the problem with these heavily modified cars is, if youve got one with 60,000 - 80,000 miles on, you know it's "perceived" as having a lot of life left in it, so you'll only want top dollar for the car, and probably won't get it.
Then if you've got one with about 100,000+ miles on it, whoever buys it has to take into account that if they keep it for a couple of years and put 30,000 or so more miles on, then it's likely that most people won't want it afterwards as it's got starship mileage.
All perceived of course! I've got 3 cars at the moment, 2 with 135,000+ miles and one with 60,000 miles. The 60,000 one runs really rough whereas the other 2 are smooth as silk with no problems!
Just my 2p worth anyway.
It was on ebay, think the reason I gor it fairly cheap was that it had some pretty chavy body mods inc horrible deep skirts and rear bumber, m3 wing mirrors and 19 inch split rims (which are actuall quite nice but just too much with all the other mods) so hoping once i fit standard side skirts, rear bumper and mirrors and new 18 inch BBS VZ wheeld it will look loads better and be worth more. I just though it would be a lot cheaper to replace a few body parts then out lay £8000 on propper RS4 engine conversion and porsche brakes etc. I have also raised the suspension a bit as its on coil overs.carpy wrote:nice buy! where was it advertised I didn't see this one for sale?gareths4 wrote:I just bought my 2001 Avant y reg S4 Avant with ko4 turbos, rs4 clutch and Porsche front and rear brakes etc with 105000 miles for only £5400 its had over £20000 spent on ot so I think I got a bit of a bargain!

I have added a picture of the car in it chav state and will upload the new (and hopefully) improved ones in a week or so!
