I'm coming late to this topic, but I can definitely say that the new asymmetrics have much better grip in the dry, without losing any of the legendary wet braking and handling for the F1 GSD3.

The tyre fitter who said they were not Sports tyres was talking complete boolsht.

Only downside that I can tell is a smidge more road noise, but definitely a huge improvement in the dry....the sidewalls feel much stiffer and they just keep turning in while the GSD3s would have washed out. I've driven 50-60k miles on GSD3s and now about 10k miles on the asymmetrics...and believe me I give these tyres a VERY hard time. They are a big step forward.

I've also tried Toyo T1-Rs and they were the hardest riding and noisiest tyres I've ever had (except BMW run-flats), and still had no better handling than the Asymmetrics.

Right, had a set of the F-1 Asymmetrics on my car for the last week now - covered about 500 miles so they're reasonably scrubbed in.

Verdict? Excellent, very very grippy indeed. Look cool too ...

You can watch Autocar's 2007 Tyre test here which includes the F1's:

F1's come out on top.

But thats just what they are. I wouldn't let them near my car. The place must have an average age of 12! Yes they are cheap, but they also have about 4 brain cells between them
they dont need brain cells to fit tyres, theres a reason whybrain surgeons earn more than tyre fitters.

i always find a tyre fitter who im friendly with, and take jaffa cakes when i need to keep him happy. but it isnt that hard to fit tyres, it just takes a little care.
