40:60 front/rear split
40:60 front/rear split
Is it possible to change the 50:50 drive on B5?
Just thought I would post as I belive it is possible to change the B6 set-up. By changing a part in the centre diff - cost approx £200 from the US and only takes an hour or so to fit.

RE: 40:60 front/rear split
is that not just the centre diff similar to what the RS4 box can do... just split more. It will still send power to the wheels that have grip & default to 50:50. To my knowledge there is no way to change this.

RE: 40:60 front/rear split
Some guys on Audizine have done there own. All statis do is replace a couple of washers and thats it done.

RE: 40:60 front/rear split
Yeah but it doesn't change the 50:50 default split only how mcuh torque can be sent to the axle with the most grip. The B7 diff is 60:40
with rear bias.
with rear bias.

yeah, so under normal driving it behaves like an open diff and gives 50/50 split, but under load in can transfer up to 80 odd % to the rear ... is that right?JonnyX wrote:This only controls the possible torque split, not the default bias (which remains 50:50). I also think it can only be done
on older diffs which you can get the casing off.

This is the only Stasis one I can see: http://www.stasisengineering.com/Catego ... =50&PID=98
4:1 instead of 2:1 Not much difference there, it would be interesting to see if you could even notice it on the road. There was some debate about whether the B5 RS4 had a different TorSen to the B5 S4 anyway. Can anyone confirm?
Stasis used to advertise a rear biased TorSen for the B5 cars, which seems to have been removed now
I would pay for a rear biased one I think.

I thought it was agreed the RS4 gearbox has 4:1 and the S4 2:1?
