Aero wipers on standard arms

Post by par_s4 » Wed Jan 30, 2008 9:21 pm

Has anyone tried these aero wipers which appear to fit the standard arms?

Mate at work has just got some for his Boxster. He says there much better than the normal ones, its just the fitting is quite bulky but well worth £10.

I got some of those off eBay a while back and they were rubbish. They were LHD, so the spoiler was upside down. They also rusted within a few months.

I got some proper Bosch Aerowipers (called Aerotwin retrofit) from www.wiperblades.co.uk and they've been excellent so far. Much cheaper than the proper Aero kits.

As mentioned above VAG are doing these retrofit kits now....which are probably re-branded Bosch anyway!

I've been looking at buying some of these aswell. They look like they will do the job. I cant see any spoiler's on them so i assume they are different from the ones Blue_Thunder is on about?

If you do decide to get a set, let us know how you get on with them, nice one....
Hmmm, its fast but is it fast enough!!!

They might well be RHD ones, but they do look the same as the ones I got.
Suppose for a tenner, it's worth the gamble, but just thought I'd better warn people of my experience.

@ Blue_Thunder:

I wasn't doubting you mate, when you mentioned spoiler i thought you meant a normal spoiler like when you buy standard wipers you get the drivers side with a spoiler/windsheild attached.

The ebay wipers in question look to me like it wouldn't make no differnce if they were upside down or not as the spoiler they mention is built into the design of the blade itself, so apart from the connecting clip the wiper would look the same from any position.

Like i said i wasn't doubting you i just didn't explain what i was trying to say properly.... :bigblink:

No worries, I don't take offence that easy!

Just done some digging and these were the ones I bought:

Look the same, but sucked big time!

Silencio X.TRM Aftermarket FLAT WIPER BLADE UPGRADE 21")

You've put me off the ebay ones now...lol....

Odd, they say they are only available for cars up to December 98. Can't imagine Audi changed the wiper arms from pre to post facelift. Can anyone confirm this either way?

The details of them are:
Bosch - AR530S
Aerotwin Retrofit FLAT WIPER BLADE UPGRADE TWIN PACK 2 x 530mm
Twin Pack - Flat Blade Upgrade
Period: Nov 1994 - Dec 1998

Nice one for that, i found the ones you're on about, they look decent. You get what you pay for as they say..... I'm going to get some providing they fit. Mines a facelift but i have the hook wiper arms, so they should fit?
