The s3 was awesome (for me any way, only being 19) , about 280bhp 19s, recaros, quick shifter...etc. raced a standard one and absolutely destroyed it. 'hobsons4' just sold his noggy blue s4..... the sound it made with his custom exhaust was mint plus it was probably twice as quick as my s3 which points me in the direction of one.

mmm the facelift has better looking lights..... some like the dash more some dont..... I like the small side trims on the pre face lift and think the facelift ones look like a sierra. (sorry) I like the door handles (flush). but it might just be me.

I was very lucky.... very I have just purchased a 1 owner 1998 S4, with just 34k fsh and the story is very strange.

I have a wad of stuff with it, the original bills, the bill of sale,£39600 every bill it has ever had all from the stealer

all the recalls (there was one for a manifold rattle)

the strange part is the guy who had it.... I don't think anyone can say this! he bought it when he was 70! and is now 79.

a strange story, but wow how to life.

Wow..... when I was 19 I only had a Rover SD1 ......mind I suppose in its day it was OK.... S4's seem to have a habit of costing money, but a lot is spent in mods (not by me ...yet).

If you want to release some dosh I dont think an S4 is the way forward.... If its not dosh then it might be (TORQUE).... not sure what the difference in insurance premium will be between the two (assuming both are standard!!!!)....I've just insured mine with the gay seafarer and his back crapping parrot ...£390 even with the Milltek pipe declared.... But at 38 it means ive lost loads of brain cells so its cheaper for 'us you know young man!'

Mine's a prefacelift and no signs of the supposedly dreaded mainfold rattle and likewise i prefer the prefacelift door handles, flush just seems a littel tidyer to me. Personal preference though.

Insurance is Group20 so beaware that it aint cheap. My last renewal in May was circa £570 (plus a fee for paying monthly) and i'm 26 w 7yrs NoClaims.

I had a few qoutes when i bought the s3 (was thinkin of an s4 then) and the s4 was cheaper. s3 being a group 17 and the s4 being a group 20. couldnt believe it. think its bcoz its a saloon and not a 'hot hatch' wich insurance companies like to stuff young lads for. (robbing stereotypical bas*ards) lol. they should do it on an individual basis instead of thinkin where all chavs and goin to crash..... damn you burberry wearing tossers. lol.

Indeed... i hate the fact that everyone gets tarnished with the same brush just cos a few complete to$$ers drive like tw@ts and often without insurance and any kind of respect for anyone else on the road and then end up stacking their motor's etc... tis the nature of the beast tho unfrtunately.
