Wipers linkage p/n

Post by Dippy » Tue Nov 13, 2007 8:55 pm

I have the slow wipers problem, so I just got my replacement part from VAGparts. I looked up the part on a web-based ETKA and got 8D2 955 603B. However seeing that one of the other part numbers I found was out of date, now I'm worried if I got this one right. Can anyone confirm?

The part number you have is correct for a RHD car maybe the part number has changed.

You only need to strip and grease the wiper spindles, carefull not to loose the small circlips on top or the spindle arms.

OK, so I replaced my linkage with the new one (8D2 955 603B). The existing one had p/n 8D2 955 023G. The only difference between then seems to be that the new one has different spindle grommit/covers which will give some protection to the area where the circlip is, wheres the old one had gromits which leave this area open to the elements.

My problem was the classic case = the drivers side spindle was corroded solid. I am glad I bought the new assembly because it looked really bad.

I spent at least an hour just trying to remove the assembly (yes with the ECU cover off), but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't do it. So in the end I unbolted the motor in situ and was then able to extract both parts easily.

Put it all back and fitted new aero wipers - now waiting to see if they're as good as all the reports suggest.

I just fitter aeros - but I found that the drivers wipe stops 2" away from window edge. I didn't notice before I changed them - can the stop position be adjusted?
