how the hell do you.... airbox clip!

Post by fil » Sun Feb 25, 2007 3:05 pm

just changed the plugs well 3 airbox side, the rain stopped play, but how do you get to the back airbox clip, my arms aint that fat!

what a pain, have left it uncliped at the mo, i just cant get it back on, tried levering it on with a screewdriver, but there just aint any room to do it.

still at lease the otherside with washer bottle looks less of a pain!

still smiling tho :)

It's a right pain that clip!

I found that doing that one first with a screwdriver, and then the others was the best technique.

Still a sod though ;-)

yup, i had trouble with that little number too, i also attached it first, helps if you push down on the airbox lid and fortunately i have dainty little gurly hands so i managed to get a finger on it, just.

Trying to separate the two halves of the airbox in situ is way too fiddly so I find it is better to remove the box complete and open it up outside the car.

I used to do the awkward clips first but totally removing makes more sense.

lol, i remember that beeeeaaaatch of a clip, it was such a knuckle grazing knightmare in fact that I just left it unhinged - to no ill effect

i think the way to do it is do that clip first as has been said - i tried that way as well and failed...

Use a bit of sturdy wire or coat hanger....
yank it up into place

I am still confused as to why you would need to undo the air box clips in situ. I presume that you have already undone the MAF and unclipped the various sensors and pipes befor you undo the clips If so then it is simply a matter of undoing one nut and the entire airbox just lifts out. give it a go you wont believe how easy it is.............or am I missing the point?

Jimbo

PS Whilst its out you can drill lots of holes in it!!
