Definitely look at the clauses in your insurance contract to verify what you were told.

next time hit the deer, it would probably cause less damage. I hear that your not supposed to change your heading if theres a deer in the way as theyre so fast at reacting if you steer to avoid it, it might try to run the same way and just jump into your path.
