Aaaaagggh... Burnt off by a Vauxhall

Post by dr_wimpkins » Wed Mar 08, 2006 11:16 am

Well.. it was a Monaro.

Took me by surprise a bit when he put his foot down. Id never seen 1 before, I was expecting it to be a 3.0 V6 or something, but the sound that came out of that 5.7 v8 ! :o

rolling start 30-60 kept with him pretty easy
60-120 he was loosing me easy

Mines bog standard, after that performance a chip is even higher on the cards!

A VAUXHALL??you bring dishonuor upon the brand!!!!in order to make up for your ways you MUST get a k04/rs6 hybrid turbo conversion, remap and all the other associated bits!!!
You can sleep safe in the knowledge that you have to remortgage your house to put a full tank in a monaro tho!

It's not really a Vauxhall it a re-badge highly respected (maybe not here) Holden.

I've been a Holden man since I was a lad (back in NZ) and always aspired to own a Torana (ideally an A9X, but that's going to be a bit of a pipe dream I think so instead a LX SS hatch :) ) I fully intend to have one too when I go back to NZ.

The Holden Monaro is a superb car and has the same q-status as our S4, IMHO, but I've no idea how it ended up with a Vauxhall badge in this country...!

As you guys probably realise the Holden Monaro is from down under and they are a dime a dozen here and would not say that they have any great Q-status, although like the WRX they are very popular with some.

Note this model has also been exported to the US as the Pontiac GTO, where is better optioned and cheaper!

http://www.pontiac.com/gto/index.jsp

There was even a 4wd model put together.

Personally.. it is just another holden with a big engine which doesn't really bring a lot of cudos around here unless you're a holden or ford fan. No offence though since that's probably a large % of the Australian population.

Though, with 5.7 - 6.0 l of V8 it's going to be quick!

I would think in UK it would look kind of rare.
