Hi all :bigwave:

here is the latest RS4 to look 'Miles Better' that I did a couple of weeks back. I had detailed this back in about March so was in need of a refresh and cleanup. The protection detail had held up well and so most was superficial dirt when stripped it all back, there were a few scuffs and marks to to tidy up.

Products used:

AB MagiFoam
Optimum ONR
AS G101
Carpro IronX
Carpro TarX
AB Ultra Fine Clay
Scholl Concepts A15 + White/Black SSP
Carpro PERL
Carpro Reload as LSP / QD

Some before pics of the general vehicle condition

First up was Foamed with AutoBrite Magifoam using the AutoBrite Lance and left to dwell for approx 20 minutes or so whilst I went over some bits off the car using the foam.

Image

Whilst foam was dwelling went round with detailing brushes all the small areas such as door handles, badges, trim, window rubbers etc and used some vikan brushes on the arches (where could get in) and under the sills, front/ ear bumpers etc and agitated the wheels with the foam.

Image

Image

After rinsing of the foam went round with G101 on wheels, all trims, window rubbers, glass, undersides of sills, bumpers etc. Then rinsed.

Image

Final wash / rinse with ONR

Image

Now the wash stages were out the way, was onto decontamination and starting with IronX on the wheels.

Image

Then I decided to try a little experiment with IronX and some Wolfs Brake Duster that I had. In marker is IX on one bottle and BD on the other. BD was applied to the left/front ofthe wheel and IX left/rear of the wheel.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

After washing on both, I tried something else and swapping sides. So I applied IX over BD and BD over IX to see how much more , if any would be removed by their nemesis.

The results....BD 0 IX 1 IX seemed to still find a fair amount of contaminants to react with.

Image

Image

Image

The rest of the car was then treated wth IX and rinsed. Then a sample of TarX was used in place of Tardis and was very impressed, will certainly getting some more to try as was very effective. The car was rinsed again before claying with AB Ultra Fine Clay, although there was very little remaining contamintation for the clay to remove.

With the the 3 decontamination stages finished it left us with this...

Image

And able to view the state of the paint. This was tackled with a One Step approach using the Scholl Concepts A15 AIO and a white/ black SSP pad.

Image

Image

Image

Other Cleaning Steps/ Finishing Touches:

Exhausts were polished up with A15 and MF pad

Chrome Badges, window trims, external glass, door shuts was polished with A15 on an MF pad - seems to work very well and in a similar way I would use Jeffs Prime.

All Plastic Trim/ Grills/ Window Rubbers / Tyres were treated with CarPro PERL after being cleaned with AS G101

The A15 has its own LSP so this was topped up, wiped over with CarPro Reload diluted as QD to 1:0.75 and applied to all of the body, glass, trim. Wheels sealed with Reload.

Hi Steve,

Another great job you did there...hope the move is going slow as I'm going to find it tough living without your skills on the doorstep

Not sure if you got my mail last week about the minor prang caused by some numpty...? Anyway she goes in for the repair this week and I'd prefer your spit and polish upon completion if you can fit me in sometime.

Keep up the good work.

cheers-Mark.
