Hi,

Having recently ran out of car shampoo, I am looking for some better stuff.

Most of the car shampoos I have used tend to turn the water bubbly and full of suds. However, when I put it onto the wash-mitt and wipe onto the car, it's almost as if I am cleaning the car with water and rubbing the dirt in, as oppose to cleaning it off. Is this normal?

I have tried all sorts of car shampoos, all different price brackets and to be honest, some of the more exensive stuff has been the worst.

I want something that stays soapy and does a good job. Any recommendations???

Also, what's this snow foam all about? Is it worth getting a kit?

The foam of a shampoo is not necessarily the best characteristic to look for... the shampoo should feel 'slick' to the touch as this will aid lubricity and help you reduce swirls, also the actual cleaning action is something that is obviously key!

I am currently on Zymol's wash... does everything you want, but quite expensive (smells great though!) i will be going over to this wash next http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-a ... d_326.html dilutes 400:1 so should last a while

As far as snow foam is concerned, I love it, makes you feel like you should be in Pacha - Ibiza lol If you have a pressure washer, get a foam lance, (if its a karcher, make sure the connection is plastic and not brass) whereas if you only have a hose buy a Gillmour Foamaster II, its the best foam you will get out of a hose...
The process WILL reduce swirls from your wash routine by reducing the surface contaminants before you even touch it with a mitt, but if your not using the two bucket method for washing, I would buy these first... or even, at the same time

I do think a snow-foam kit is worth buying, but no pressure washer at the moment. Should I just buy the Foamaster or should I buy all the gear and a Karcher?

Get yourself a good foam gun ..







Then you won't scratch the car ..

I then hand wash using a zymol sponge as they don't trap dirt







These are great for the wheels, but I don't think they can be bought anymore

Top tip from a professional detailer... Johnsons Baby Bath (Blue Bottle), is very gentle on your wax!!! I've used it for the last few years with fantastic results.

ive got megs gold class and its good but not as good as the poorboys stuff i got from elite car care.

them gilmours are the business, i might get in touch with alex at elite and see if he'd be up for a group buy on them for the RS246 boys, would there be any interest?

Gilmours wont produce as much thick foam as a foam gun will with a pressure washer but the added benefit is you dont need a pressure washer to use the Gilmour

I have ordered Citrus Wash & Gloss from chemicalguysuk.com along with a body sheild blitz spray (sealant)

Got a trial from a work colleague and the shampoo feels really smooth on application. The blitz spray is easy peasy to apply and takes no time at all to do. Had my car detailed professionally in June so want to keep it in A1 condition.

Used to use acid rain stuff from Supagaurd but this citrus stuff is amazing.

I have had my own developed for i too had the same problem, My Auto-Wash is pH neutral and also stays very soapy on a lambs wool mitt and leaves a great finish.
