My tailpipes have become stained - sort of tarnished from having been too hot. I believe they are stainless steel (!). Chrome cleaner makes no difference. Any suggestions on what to use?

I heard people mentioning Brasso, but I've always used Solvol Autosol on anything alloy or stainless.
You could also try using T-Cut, but it doesn't stay shiney for as long, and will go black next time the exhaust gets hot if you don't get it all off [img]images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

I use the Autosol, but call it Anusol. Keeps my rear end clean. Might try the Brasso, as I have been lazy and pipes are also suffering from discolouration.

I've not cleaned my RS4 pipes myself yet (above is advice from previous cars/bikes).

btw once they have discoloured from heat I don't think you will ever get them back to normal colour.

Just get Bushy to do it!!! Think he uses something called Elbow grease

Right, so mine were a mess, so I tried some "Astonish Oven & Hob Cleaner"!! I thought the compound might do the trick.... It has worked but reduced the chrome effect a little, I think it will come back after a few normal cleans though. Finished it off with some Brasso, and looks pretty good.

I would recommend it if the exhaust is in a state.
