Detailer in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Anyone know of a good detailer in the Newcastle Upon Tyne area that will come to the dealer with me for the PDI?

Give Dave a ring. He will detail it before you collect it, much better than letting the dealer prep it for you.

Re: Detailer in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Just had a look at his site. I was thinking my RS6 could do with a full detail after I gave it some Meguiars treatment. It never looks as good as when a pro uses all the products on it though. I may contact him after the new year.

Haven't used ddb, but follow on them on Facebook and have seen the work they have done on cars on here. Looks good.

Thanks for that Russ but he is just a little too far away for the dealer visit
When we had a chat a few weeks ago you mentioned a treatment you were using that was like a rubber coating of some kind but expensive - can you let me know what it was mate and or a detailer in the North East that can apply it for me

Re: Detailer in Newcastle Upon Tyne
its max protect uncr mate. no authorised guys up there buddy. it can be done diy but its a tough job and once its on its on so if it goes wrong it will need heavy machine work to remove, it will dry within seconds and caused patching.
I know you say im a bit too far but may well be worth the travel if thats what you are after rather than pay someone to do it that doesnt have the experience then have to pay for it to be removed and reapplied should it go wrong, trust me it does and has gone wrong even with pro's doing it and the first time user WILL struggle no matter how experienced at this game they are. Ive just applied it to philt's gtr on the whole car and the whole application was a full day, sure there will be some pics hanging around.

Hi Russ, happy to travel and to pay but from memory it takes a couple of days at least to apply? Don't have any work close to Sheffield so depending on how long it takes would have to come back home and come down which is a bit of a pain. Roughly how long would it take to apply to an Audi S6 avant?

Re: Detailer in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Most guys that come here have left the car for a week to make it not such of a rush in between, timewise the new car prep assuming its in good nick will be done within about 12-14hrs, the coating will be about 8 and then an overnight cure, which is a must, although it does cure pretty rapidly you see guys sending jobs out with similar products on straight after application, those very same jobs i have seen or have been referenced to have been covered in water spots which i will never let any job with a coating of any type go unless its fully cured, waxes and sealants etc are pretty much straight out but as clients pay for the coating the least i could do is make sure its 1, correctly applied and 2, complete stable.
i do understand that some timescales do not fit with customers which is why i will go above and beyond for those that travel such distances, i have a guy from London coming up this friday for this coating applying, hes dropping off Thursday evening and collecting Sunday evening.
This coating is that good i have had clients from Scotland, London Manchester etc.
Its chemical resistance is for me one of the best on the market.

Re: Detailer in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Never used it so cant comment, i would say though that it sounds more of a glass coating rather than the UNCr, of which are very good products but very rarely do as they say on the tin, imo glasscoats look excellent once they have been applied but soon begin to look sterile, a bit clinical, i have just had a look at their site and there are no approved applicators over here and according to them can only be applied via one. I would be wary of who you choose to apply such a product if it says authorised only. Not only that if they are keeping the car overnight then they need internal risk cover to cover your car for theft, or fire etc, without that I would stay clear so make sure that is in place, and with any glass coating i would always leave indoors overnight.
Regarding the trip to me its understandable but why not make a weekend away with the missus, come down Friday go back Sunday and spend a couple of nights in a hotel, some clients have done that before where i have picked the car up from the hotel where they stay and then pick the client up when its ready, but completely understand where you are coming from so hope you find the right guy to do this for you.
By the way janis at Max protect has asked me to ask if you can ring him again as he has lost your details as he said he would like to get in touch with you.

Re: Detailer in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Hi Russ,
Is there a decent motorhome park near you as we could possibly come down in the car and motorhome and have a weekend away getting the car done at the same time? Hotels are great but we have a German Shepherd dog that not many allow in and he is difficult to house here when we are away lol
Got some time yet so will do my best to get the treatment done and in a timely fashion very soon after purchase

Re: Detailer in Newcastle Upon Tyne
ive had a quick look for you for the closest ones that allow dogs, unfortunately theres one right on the doorstep of the unit but dont allow dogs. There are some in Sheffield but way over the otherside other than the Dronfield one. Clumber Park is about 20 minutes away.
