R8 at an Auction, I kid you not..

Post by neckarsulm » Sat Aug 02, 2008 7:37 pm

OE07 LXC at Bedford on 6/8, just 3.5k miles.

Has it been damaged and repaired and thus not able to be sold through an Audi Centre?

Mine had OY07 too..... an Audi press car is likely, or could even be from one of the Audi run trackday 'experiences' - especially if not going through a dealership.

They have disposed of an Audi Experience RS4 through a BCA auction before - the pics deliberately showed that the wings had moved due to the day-in day-out torsional loading!

Racket straps over bonnet and wings on trailer?

Sorry to drag this one back from the grave, but I went to see the car above today which is being advertised by a trader (now on 2 previous owners and on 19K miles).

The car sounds and drives fine as far as I can tell on a 20 min test drive, but the side bolsters are badly worn (is that normal?) and it must have had a respray as there are virtually no stone chips on the bodywork.

I was ready to do a deal on a part-ex (I've put down a deposit subject to HPI checks and searches) but now I've seen that it went to auction I'm a little concered. The first owner comes up as Audi UK, so would that make it a press car, or could it still have been an Audi Experience car? Wondering if I should walk away from this one and keep looking.

Any thoughts welcome.

Oh and hello everybody :bigwave:

the drivers side bolsters do wear quite badly due to how low the car is .... the only way to avoid this is to fully push the seat back and lift yourself out of the car using the side steps

also, the R8's do suffer alot of stone chips, again due to how low they are ... so most R8's going through a decent dealer prep will get a front end respray (mine did in Nov from Chelmsford Audi and its peppered again already)

There are plenty to choose from so if your not 100% sure about this one then walk away and look elsewhere. As D K has already said they are very prone to stone chips, mine had been repainted so was nice condition when I bought it.No real sign of seat wear on mine at 23,000 miles though.(standard seats not buckets).I bought from Audi as I wanted the 12 months warranty, which is just as well as it needed some expensive repairs very soon after I picked it up, even though it had only done 21,000 miles. Don't be put off if it has higher miles as long as it has a warranty.
