Low oil pressure warning light

B5 RS4. Car wouldn't start and after 2 or 3 tries turning the ignition the oil pressure warning light came on. Oil level is normal. Any ideas what the problem might be? Know of any decent mechanics in the Bromley area?

Could be the Oil pressure sender. It's located roughly above the oil filter. Probably worth getting them to change that first (think the part was about £20 when I had mine replaced) to see if that's the problem.
How often has the oil been changed?

If you crank the engine for about 10 seconds & it doesn't start the oil warning will come on automatically, it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the oil supply in the engine. It's a safety feature that Audi put in to protect the starter etc.

Had the camshaft tensioner adjuster changed by a "specialist" a couple of months ago. The car has not felt 100% ever since. Very slight change to idling tempo. And now the car won't fire up.

You really need some way of reading any fault codes, either Vagcom or something similar, that's always the best place to start.
If the engine wasn't running too well before then something might be recorded, if the cam timing had been set incorrectly after the tensioner replacement that would account for the idle problem you mentioned, but it may not stop it starting.
There are so many things that will stop the engine from starting, you need to know where to start!!
