Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
My cars warranty expires in September; was in the dealer and made an enquiry to see if the anticipated price change (reduction!) has gone through yet... Dealer has advised for a while that they anticipate the RS6 warranty to reduce to around a grand. I was informed that Audi are completing their deal at present and the promotional literature is being printed although there are two issues that have delayed the planned release 1) Prices being agreed 2) Have not yet reached FSA approval.
I was advised to check back in a few weeks time to see what the the outcome is.
Has anyone else had similar experience??

It's been running since about January last year hasn't it? It's a total shambles really. I was told I had to buy direct from Mondial last summer because of the FSA problem.

Great .... just had my renewal from mondial .... £1582 ..... July 7th deadline .... I bet it won't be resolved by then.
RE: Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
Yeah me too - that's way too steep, but I think Mondial will supply even when audi are back in business won't they so can't see it being any cheaper. I'm off to look for another company to do my warranty - any recomendations of good companies currently out there?

RE: Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
Spoke to the dealer man who sorts the Audi/Mondial Warranty whilst at the dealers today... Audi still not FSA approved; he advised that I should receive the standard letter from Audi shortly advising that the car is approaching 3 years old and being offered "the old 2005" Mondial warranty with an introduction from Audi. However, he reckons that I should hold out as long as possible as he is convinced that the new 2006 Audi warranty will be considerably cheaper!? Bit of a gamble?

I couldn't hold out longer and have stumped up £1582 !
If you do not renew more or less immediately, are you not subject to a further inspection fee before purchasing another warranty ? Thats what one Audi dealer told me .... inspection to cost something like £275.

RE: Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
Suppose I've got about 7 weeks to decide
Will be massively miffed if I pay and then they drop the price within a few weeks
Although, knowing Audi it will probably go up, which will then be even more annoying if I had'nt purchased. I certainly wont be going out of warranty period as I have also heard similar for inspection fee.

RE: Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
I'm also in the same dilema, but have until November.
I had an Audi S4 before my RS6 and got a 'Warranty Direct' warranty for 3 years. It worked well, they covered wear and tear, unlike most warranties and I certainly got my money back. Last year I was thinking about a further policy with them, but I found out they did not cover cars with engines as big as 4.2 litres. I had a look around to see if there were any other alternatives and I came up with : http://www.warrantyworks.co.uk
They offered £523.88 for one year platinum package, max claim £2500. Now I have no experience with them and my feelings are that it is quite possible to get a claim with a value more that £2500.
Anyway after reading the threads here today, I phoned up my local dealer and they are still selling the 'Audi' warranty at £1582.
So I went back to the http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk website and phoned them up. Today they were able to offer me for £850 coverage for 1 year, commencing when my warranty expires in November. There policy has a limit of £5000 per claim, but you can claim as many times as necessary. They offered me Gold cover, with work done at Audi garages.
I am keen to read what you all think as I have had problems with the 'Audi' extended warranty before: They would not pay for faulty mannifolds for my S4 as they were part of the exhaust system - Warranty Direct would have.
Summary of cover:
Parts and labour covered:
Warranty Direct covers the cost of mechanical and electrical failure. Wear and tear to a covered part and damage to an insured part caused by an uninsured part is also covered. Others exclude such cover so beware inferior imitations! For comparison, we estimate these two items to be worth 40% of your premium.
Breakdown Recovery:
Policy includes up to a maximum contribution of £150 toward recovery cost if breakdown is a result of failure of an insured part and if you do not have cover elsewhere. If you prefer, Motoreasy Recovery or Recovery Plus can also be purchased from us at unbeatable prices.
Car hire:
Policy includes up to a maximum contribution of £30 per day for up to 7 days car hire if your car cannot be fixed in first 24 hours if a breakdown is a result of failure of an insured part and if you do not have cover elsewhere.
Emergency travel:
Policy includes up to a maximum of £25 towards the cost of alternative travel (coach, train etc.) if your car cannot be fixed in first 24 hours and breakdown is a result of failure of an insured part and if you do not have cover elsewhere.
Overnight Accommodation:
Policy includes up to a maximum of £100 towards the cost of overnight accommodation if your car cannot be fixed in first 24 hours and breakdown is a result of failure of an insured part and if you do not have cover elsewhere.
Cover from day one:
Sudden and unknown/unexpected failures are covered from the day your policy starts. Others implement exclusion periods! Study the small print!
Instant claims authority:
Your selected garage will call us for immediate claim authorisation.
Direct settlement with garage:
If you select a member of our approved network for repairs we will settle agreed payments with the garage. Otherwise, we will settle with you directly.
Your choice of garage for servicing and repairs:
Tell us when buying whether you want to take your car to a network garage or a franchised dealer/non-network garage for future repairs. Our experience of many different types of garage leads us to recommend independents for all our work - but the choice is yours.
Failure of timing belts, when failure is within manufacturer's guidelines:
As long as you have, or have had, your timing belt changed at the recommended interval failure of the belt and resulting damage is covered.
Wear and tear is always an issue, but up to 70000, not here:

RE: Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
Am also interested in any comments from those with experience of Warranty Direct (who were incidentally on LBC this morning with a survey into labour rates for car repairs in London). Warranty expires at the end of this month and am looking for extended warranty. Don't fancy the £1,500 on offer from Audi via Mondial and much prefer thr £850.00 on offer from WD.

RE: Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
Not sure now. The Warranty Direct quote came through yesterday and there both a single claim and annual £5,000.00 limit. Mondial have a single claim limit of the purchase price of the car and no limit to the amount of claims. It's a bit of an actuarial puzzle but to my mind it's £850.00 for up to £5,000.00 cover or £1,582.00 for £40,000.00. I guess it depends on your view of what the potential claims might be. I had an extended warranty on a Merc once that saved me £6,000.00 when a 5 speed auto box went (that warranty was only £400.00!). I should think it could be a hefty bill for a tiptronic 6 speed.

RE: Audi Warranty not FSA approved...
Give them a phone, and explain the situation. I did a few days ago after I got the same letter (max £5000). They have now changed the wording of the policy. (It has been increased). I explained that a gear box would cost £12000. I should have it in writing in the next few days though. they did not increase the policy cost.
