Hi just thought I would share this with you. I wanted to install pole positions in my b5 (w271 ewl) ever since I watched the Chris Harris review of Audi’s yellow Rs and it having them installed. I Managed to find some mint ones on eBay last year with avus silver backs and then the fun began. Could not find new suitable fixing base frames anywhere. Even recaro them selves could not help. So then I decided to buy some donor seats from another b5. During lockdown I stripped the donor seats down to the bases and threw the rest. Then my mate stepped in with his welding expertise (Being an expert mechanic) and the manufacturing began. The result is as near to stock as I think you could get. Had the frames shot blasted and new Matt black powder coating locally and here’s the finished result. I love them and think they are so cool. So if you fancy doing the same, the easiest and most readily available option is to source some b5 seats and use the audi base free with some tweaks. Still got the original leather recaro Seats for if I ever decide to sell her but being ex Audi press car with low miles and the fact every time I open the garage or drive her it puts a smile on my face, I doubt it.

Would be great to get all the UK b5’s together but would need someone who has contacts and knows what they are doing to organise that.

Thanks. Yes given it’s one of audi U.K. original press office cars and was in evo I wanted to be able to restore to factory with no damage whatsoever.

Did you use just normal A4 B5 seat bases please? Do you have any pictures of the mounts your friend fabricated please? Or pictures of the frames before you mounted the seats?
